Upgunning LAV's

Post by shawno »

Let's say I wanted to upgrade the turrets on my LAV 25's (from other manufacturer)...

What other turrets could I possibly kitbash on to the hull? Would a bradley turret fit, avenger missile system? What turrets are of the right size that could be fit on a LAV 25?

Any help would be appreciated

lav 25 turrent option

Kit bashing is common here....

LAV 8X8: mixed the turret from the VBC for French and cut off the muzzle brake, add an ADATS turret, vulcan turret and possibly with 1 or 2 stinger 4 pack(s). Possibly use (although I have not tried this one) using AMX 13 turret on Lav hull for the Swiss Shark?

on Canada 6X6 from other guys: AML 90 turrets, 20mm turret from V-150, Vulcan turret, roland radar for a ground survellience radar.

Have used VBC hull with Lav 25 turret for Spainish and/or Japanese Recon vehicle. Works nicely.

Cool thanks Chris.

Would a bradley turret work?

So Chris you're saying a VBC 90 turret from cinc will fit on cinc LAV25 8x8's? What about a cinc bradley turret, it mounts the same basic gun does it not, just with some TOW's? So would it also fit on the chassis, I don't mind it being a bit wide if It can be made to fit..

I need to know this if possible, so i can get them done and get on with purchasing a fleet of GHQ leopard 2a6. Maybe GHQ could make the CV90's so i could pawn off my lav fleet lol...

Thanks..

I have shaved the stem of the VBC 90 turret and shaved some of the receptical so that it fits. I have not used Bradley turret on LAV. Have used Bradley turret on sheridan hull for a S/F or futuristic game.

Also, have used Gepard turret on Sheridan hull for Japanese AA system. IT is close....

I have been trying to come up with PUMA or ASCOD for Spain/Austria APC. Thinking of using other guys Bradley hull and other guys Scorpin turret.... Any suggestions?

Shawno: what force are you trying to work on, what vehicles?

Thanks Chris.

A lav 25 recce unit was my first idea, but i've lost interest in it...I cant help it, but im in love with tanks. I tryed to order leo 2A5's from the other guys but there mold is dead. I will wait until they make a new one...

I envision a regiment with 3-4 company sized squadrons. 2 squadrons MBT (Leo2A5) and 1-2 with tracked vehicle like a bradley or cv90, upgraded with sensor suites. Each squadron will have integral support echelons using armoured transports, and the regiment will have hq company controlling some of the other assets. I will not be using any light vehicles in this formation. Think bradley is good enough?

My Lav's will be upgunned to 90mm or 105mm guns, and be used with my humvees as a rapid reaction airborne capable force.

Chris, I am interested in german puma as well, and also came to conclusion that bradley hull is the closest we may get until specific models are built. I think scorpion turret might work, and if I can think of other ideas, I will pass them on.

Cheers

For Germans, I use GHQ Leopars 2A6, if I want Lpd 2A5, trim barrel a little shorter with nail clippers. This tank is used by Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway?, Poland and a few others considering it. Thailand/Malaysia bought Lpd 2A4 (GHQ Lpd 2). Then use the APC of the country you are building.
