Cold Wars 2007 snowed out?

Post by WHM »

Now is about the time I was looking forward to going to Cold Wars, but the North East has had the biggest snow fall for the winter. I looked forward to going since the start of the year but the weather gods have deemed otherwise

Not a biggie as far as life's issues go, but was wondering if anyone else got snowed in and was prevented from going.

Misery loves company!

I had intended to go, but had a last-minute business commitment override my intentions. Friday was horrible weather. Saturday would have been OK to start out with (I'm located near I-70 in western Pennsylvania), but would have gotten worse on the way to Lancaster. Today (Sunday) I would have gone if I didn't have to get this project done.

I attended as a vendor (Scale Creep Miniatures). At least in the dealer's hall it was pretty dead Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. I heard quite a few games were canceled. But it picked up mid-day Saturday and finished strong.

I drove across OH and PA from Cincinnati. My weather on the way was just rain with a touch of snow, but overall perfectly manageable, even pulling a 3000 lb trailer. The biggest challenge was really Friday night getting back to the hotel - I cancelled dinner plans and ate at Ruby Tuesday instead (yuk). But it was open, warm, and close...

Lancaster is about a 2hr. drive for me. I planned on leaving home early and then come back late afternoon and go to work late evening.

Seeing how the weather deteriorated on Friday did not make this plan possible. To go late morning or early afternoon I do not think would have allowed enough time to see everything and get back in time.If it was closed to N.J.well, maybe it would have been possible.

Ended up going to work Friday night Saturday morning to cover the person who was originally going to cover me.

Here's to Historicon!
