All:
It seems our old forum pest, the SQerL, is nipping at our heels again.
For those of you who are not familiar with our local pest ... this forum software has a periodic glitch. The by-product of the SQerL is duplicate posts.... or triplicate, quadruplicate, etc. etc. posts. But these multiple postings are a by-product, not a direct result. Because you and I, as posters on this fine forum, are the ones who actually cause these multiple postings, and by following some simple advice can reduce or eliminate them...
You will see the SQerL when you try to make a post, or edit one of your existing posts. When you hit the "POST" button, you will be presented with an error message which says "DEBUG MODE", which will tell you there has been an SQL Error, and present you with the SQL ERROR LOG number.
If you continue on to the forum, you may very well see that your post does not appear.
If this happens to you, please DO NOT REPEAT YOUR POST. The odds are very good that your post will indeed appear in the next several minutes.
So...
While we try to hunt down the SQerL again, please do the following. Before you hit the "POST" button, select and copy the contents of your post to your clipboard, and paste it into a file -- any file -- a .DOC, or a .TXT, or whatever file type your word processor software likes to produce. Save that file in some easy-to-find location. Then proceed, hit the "POST" button, and if you get the SQL Error message, just continue on the the forum. If your post is not there, WAIT a little while. After 20 or 30 minutes, if it has not appeared, then you may want to re-post it. Since you have the whole contents saved in a file, the re-posting should be as easy as a cut-and-paste, and you're back in business.
But please, when you get an SQL Error message, DO NOT go back and re-post it right away, again and again, until you see it appear. What you see appear is your FIRST posting, which probably took 5 or 10 minutes to show up, during which time you made a second, third, fourth fifth, twentieth, thirty-fourth, or one-hundred and sixteenth repeat, all of which will soon appear as well.
Just give your posts a little time to show up before you repeat them.
In the meantime, your faithful moderators will work with the good folks at GHQ to chase the SQerL away again.
Thanks.

p.s.
I hope this does not wind up being a duplicate thread! Following my own suggestion, I posted first, and did not re-post after a SQerL bite, until I had waited a respectable time. In my case, I have waited 4 hours since first attempting to post this thread. Not that you should wait that long. Just that I didn't want to look any more the fool than I normally do.
