Modern Main Battle Tanks

Post by chrisswim »

I looked though the 20 pages for a thread that may apply for the video...it did not, so. New thread for Modern Main Battle Tanks. Nice video just under 10 minutes.

Leopard 2, Abrams, LeClerc. Nice video, smoker launchers, stablization systems, speed & firepower.

Hope you enjoy it. Chris

I like the Challenger 2 ones :D

Having worked on it I know it's a good tank, one I'd go to war in.

Interesting Tank vs. Safe.

here is one Challenger 2 video I missed.

The Challenger 2s now use 120 smoothbore, so ammo is common throughout NATO. Now more HESH rounds.

Does anyone else think the gun barrel on China's Type 99 moves around an awful lot while the tank is moving? It seems that their stabilization system lags behind all the others.

And the Japanese Type 90 doesn't seem to be able to fire on the move. Maybe its just doctrine but they seem to hit the brakes hard before trying to fire. Anyone have any insight?

Give them a couple of years and by then they will have stolen much better technology.

They probably subscribe the the WWII "Jim Clark" school of wargaming.

Where's the love for the Merkava? A county that 99% of its neighbors want it not to exist anymore has developed a pretty good tank as well.

Found this interesting video on the T-80U. Check out how this thing fires in mid-air, about 45 seconds into the vid.
