Scratch built - wehrmacht crane "Strabokran"

Post by BurtWolf »

Dunno why, maybe intrigued with it being a nice terrain type piece, but I set out to build a tank repair depot (irony alert - I have yet to purchase any berg panzers or cranes...) starting off with the big gantry crane. I channeled my inner Nazgul (if he did this it would blow mine away), and did some research and scratch building...

I know it's not an exact replica but the best I could do with styrene pieces I had. I sacrificed a couple US trucks by chopping off the dual wheels to form the four wheeled pairs. I plan on hanging wire and making a hook for the chains.

That crane is fabulous, it was a good sacrifice of the trucks for that. If Nazgul builds one, do not destroy yours, send it to me.
Great job!!

This is very well done.

Very nice build, all you need is a turret interior for a Panther or Tiger to go with it. 8)

Thanks!! I was gonna try to build a tiny engine as if it had been removed but my styrene is just to big and clunky...

Oh wow! That, is, amazing!

I REALLY hope you have some in-progress build shots! Because be damned if I could make that myself without instructions!
