Flamesof Epic Game Pics

Post by Extra Crispy »

The pictures don't really show off the troops very well, but here are some pictures from toda'y's "Flames of Epic" game Germans are attempting ti fight a delaying action while the Soviets want to smash through. A fun game with a win to the Soviets. Their artillery really proved decisive. With 8 guns in the battery and re-rolling misses, they were able to pin and then kill most of my infantry, and I had no answer for it.

The CD movement trays are for convenience so moving 10-stand Russian infantry is easier. They are removed whn/as needed. Table is 4x6, playing the ling way and using 1/2" measurements (basically I have rulers marked in half inches making the table effectively 8 x 12).

Nice stuff! I'm intruiged by your infantry bases, how do they go with small areas? Or do the models kind of 'slot in' on their smaller bases while those act as "movement trays?"

I'm not sure what you mean by "small areas." But each infantry base is about 20x15mm. Those CDs are actually mostly used for another game system, but work here. The plain brown strips are magnet so metal bases stick. Designed to hold three 20x20 bases.

A Soviet infantry unit is 9 bases, and we had 6 such units, so that's a lot of bases to move singly. I just plopped them on the CDs. Whenever necessary just remove the CD and move the bases individually.

Does that answer your question?

CD Movement tray designed for 3 battalions each of three bases 20x20mm. These I use for my SYW armies.

Here is the CD with a 10 base Soviet infantry unit just dropped on.

And here are the infantry bases by themselves:
