Recently, I stumbled on a few photos that showed an M60 with the same style mine plow as the M1 Abrams. See my Forum Post, show me your leopards and M60s.
My question,
How do you blend away parts of the tank that you want to remove? The M60A3, with reactive armor, has reactive armor bricks on the bottom of the front portion of the tank. These will have to be removed to provide access for the mine plow or atleast shave down the bolts on the brick to make it ready for glue and make a good bond. I can test this out on the M60A3 without reactive armor, but if it fits I would like to move on to the Reactive armor version. I tried to remove a stowed tarp, to make room for the deployed tarp. I used an exacto knife and took so long that I gave up never to finish my work.

To remove raised detail on a kit I would recommend the following:
1) A Dremel tool with a sanding or grinding attachment
2) A vise / clamp that can hold your tank still but still expose the area to be worked on
3) An illuminated magnifier (preferably mounted to a table with a swing arm)
4) Good eyes, steady hands, patience and nerves of steel!
Keeping in mind that a sneeze, slip or flinch will cause a hull breach the size of a (scale) manhole cover, you can sand off the bulk of the raised feature with the Dremel tool and perform cleanup with an X-acto blade and some 1000 grit sandpaper.
One other helpful hint...decaf! I hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Since I do not currently have a place to work on sanding for atleast 9 months, I think i will try the set up on the M60 without any Reactive armor. If that works and it all fits, I will then move on to the one with reactive armor. Looks like there might have to be a Dremel in my future.
