to get SAM-7s and RPG-7s? The infantry pack or the heavy weapons pack? Or both?

Hey mate!

Sadly you'll only get the RPG-7s with the Russian packs, you're after the older Russian set in this case.

Both the Russian Infantry and Russian Heavy Weapons carry the RPG-7 as an option. However; none of the current packs have SA-7's, which is a real pain... so at the moment you have two options...

Option A) mod an SA-7, use either a Chinese FN-6 missile man,

or option B) get a hold of a ultra-modern Russian SA-24 tube and use it to replace one of the RPG-7 launchers on a soldier.

We're all quietly hoping GHQ gets on board with the explosion of Team Yankee 6mm which has occurred and gives us some 'cold war' era Soviets with SA-7's and recoilless rifles/ AT-3's and the like (pretty much the last section of 'Soviet' era infantry we haven't really got access to yet)... but we'll have to wait until June/July 2017 at the earliest if we're lucky :)

My advice? Get piece of plastic card piping to replace the RPG-7 tube, and fit it with a very small 'stock' of plastic card or some other material... at this scale it'll do as a placeholder until the real-deal gets made.

It's what I am going to be doing once I get around to it :)

Think I'll just cut off the RPG and replace with a bit of wire or plastic rod.....

Thanks!

Hey Mark,

Is this for TY or are you creeping into moderns for another rule set?

I'm intrigued by this snippet. Can someone expand on how many and what types?

First of all I'd question the comment on the BTR-50 as the online photo shows only two types of vehicles but not mortars, recoilless rifles or SA-7's.

Options for SA-7 figures:

1. Modify the RPG gunner. Probably a kit bash with some trimming and an extension on the back end of the rocket launcher.

2. Search the web for SA-7 figures from another manufacturer. They are out there. Send me an message for the manufacturer.

3. Use a U.S. Stinger figure and just paint it up differently. I know, I know, the weapons don't look the same but at 1:285th someone is going to have to eyeball it pretty closely to tell the difference. If they figure it out ask them to produce and provide such a figure.

The BTR50s USED to come with crew-served weapons, but I don't know if the STILL do. I remember mortars and recoilless rifles.

Given that GHQ's OOB's all include the SPG-9 RR it would be nice if they sold one. I'm going to order a bunch of stuff when the new models hit so I'll include some BTR-50's and let everyone know. How's that sound?

It might be more economical to phone GHQ and see if you can order just the tree. I haven't seen the BTR-50 in use in a long time, although given the way Russians use equipment, it wouldn't surprise me if they were still serving. Unless you are building a 1950s/60s unit, you might want to spend your money on more modern equipment.

Getting sucked in to Fistful of TOWs III but at 1:1 for vehicles. Infantry will be based as per TY so I can play both...

The BTR-50 appears to have been used in Engineering units for quite awhile. Up into the '80's if FM-100 2-3 is to be believed. I have plenty of uses for such vehicles both for Soviet units and for the Syrian army where it appears to still be in use today.

That would be great :)

Alternately, if anyone from GHQ reads the forum posts, maybe they could comment on whether the RCLs are included?

I would also love to see a soviet support weapons pack with SPG-9, Sagger, SA-7, SA-14 etc.

So it does - I never noticed that?! Looks like I have to get me some BTR-50s...
