Pintel MGs: Any tips or tricks?

Pintel MGs: Any tips or tricks?
So for paint an MBT month, I am putting some T72 Ms on the painting table. These come with the little pintel mounted MGs and I'm wondering if I should bother with them (I'm a gamer, not a scale modeler) or just toss them and save the grief?

For my two cents i have a few thoughts. I could imagine that if you gamed alot, they may tend to break off. However, I am with Extra Crispy and feel they make the model look good. I have some Russian vehicles with the MGs and some with out. the other thing, and this has happen to me, if the MG breaks off the Russian gun, you can take it off at the base and then touch it up and know one would be the wiser. The US MGs for the M1 scare me. I have yet to put one on one of mine because the barrel part looks way to fragile and if it breaks off, I could imagine my OCD would go in over drive. The other issue is, with the fact that they are not shipped in anything that keeps them from sliding around, the barrels are hopelessly fragile than they may have been when they came out of the mold.
Side note, If GHQ is listening, it could be beneficial to redesign the blister packs so that some foam is in the blister where the turrets and or tiny MGs are. Before anyone says it, I know that could increase the cost of the vehicles..or maybe it would reduce GHQs replacement cost.. who knows.. This would provide friction form them sliding around and in some cases if you could put the turrets/ mgs between foam, it would help reduce the movement and associated bent barrels. I have gotten several turrets and MGs where they are so bent and pushed far in the plastic region of there deformation, that when they are bent back they are week. Mostly I see this with turrets like the Bradleys... O wait, I am rambling.. sorry.

I have contacted GHQ customer service when this has happened and they have replaced the turret.I have gotten several turrets and MGs where they are so bent and pushed far in the plastic region of there deformation, that when they are bent back they are week. So, I could not agree more. I have contacted GHQ about a lot of pieces that were damaged in some way. They have always been great about replacing defective or damaged parts. No complaint there..

To better explain my position I have the following example. I have bought two separate packs of M2 bradley's. Both packs had three or more barrels that were bent, badly. Now they were easily straitened, but I could tell that from the ease in which they moved when being bent back, that the metal was now what engineers would call plastic. truth be know, any time there is permanent deformation, its gone plastic. the fatigue life is lower and is probably greatly reduced. The metal is now weaker and it will not take long before it is one direction or the other before it breaks off. How long, that depends on how bad it is and there is no way to tell. So, this is a concern of them breaking in the future at some undisclosed time. I would be taking advantage of GHQ's great customer service, if I asked them to replace everyone I know will break in the future. At last count, that could be at least 10 to 12 Bradley turrets that I know of. Now, they are pewter and I get that there is no way that they will not break at some point. However, if there is any way we can reduce the damage out of the box to increase the life of fragile parts, then its worth considering. My personal thought, is that i plan on buying some replacement turrets for the future damage so that I can keep those pieces alive that much longer. The other issue is that GHQ will periodically update models with new molds and change the design.. THat happen to me after I bought two packs of warriors.. So I may never be able to order a replacement turret in the future of an older model. So just a thought.
O and sorry for hijacking this thread with this rant..
