Gentlemen (and any ladies who frequent this corner of the web)

Since it is a mere nine months or so until the release of GHQs 2007/'08 new items I figured I might as well start another wishlist thread. Since we can all think of a couple of dozen things we'd want added to the line without trying too hard we wind up with about 100 options, which is no help to anyone. So the challenge is to come up with one thing - just one, and have a reason for wanting it added. Because it looks cool and they're my favourite vehicle does NOT count!

I would start the ball rolling, but I'm still stuck with half a dozen to choose from.

WWII US Infantry with air-cooled .30 cal machine guns. Otherwise I will have to continue to equip my infantry weapons platoons with "the other guy's" figures. A redo of the US bazooka teams would be nice to bring the casting in line with the greater detail seen on the recent releases. And if they are in airborne kit, well that would be OK.

Well ... I have thought about it ... and ... cheating (quite) a bit I guess .. but I'd like to see the DAK HQ set mentiond in a previous list, 'Combat Command' style ... so 1 item ... kinda!

It could contain, among other things:
– SdKfz 250/3 + frame aerials
– Rommel's caravan, towed by SdKfz 251/3 (?) with frame aerial + tarp over interior
– decals for Rommel's vehicle 'Greif' (there was at least one other with similar lettering, so it could be included too)
– a Fiesler Storch + appropriate decals (2.Aufklärungsgruppe (H) 14 ?)
– solo and combination motorcycles
– Begleitkommando (Rommel's escort group) with versions of the Horch with the tarp down
– Kampfstaffel elements (apparently the Panzer Kompanie included 12 Honeys)
– a command figures group featuring Rommel, Bayerlein, von Luck (all quite different build and attire), + radio operators, small tents, officers with tripod mounted telescopic binoculars (what do you call those things?) - more photo-etch

Why? Three reasons:
1 I want it – OK not good enough
2 the cool thing about such a set is that it could be used to equip German HQ units for all theatres ... while filling some gaps in the GHQ range
3 Now you want it too

Good a idea for a topic! My suggestion as usual is for the Italian CA Pola. This heavy cruiser had a different appearance from her Zara class sisters. She had a different style hull and superstructure. She is the only major Italian surface warship not acurately depicted by a GHQ model. She was involved in the following battles: Battle of Punta Stilo, Battle of Cape Teulada, Taranto, Battle of Matapan (sunk)

While there are several items that I would prefer to see (with good cases for each), the one that is most justifiable is the CV90.

Reasons:
1) CV90, in its multiple variants, is already in service or on order with 6 western countries (Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, Norway, Finland and Denmark), with more than 1,100 being built.
2) As an MICV, CV90s will always appear on the battleboard, unlike artillery, most Corps assets, or fast moving aircraft.
3) Many of CV90's users have earmarked their vehicles for expeditionary use, which means that we'll actually see them in hotspots like Africa.
4) The business case for making a 1/285 scale CV90 makes sense:

• a) There is virtually no competition for a CV90 model. Only Heroics-Ros makes one and it is a particularly poor model.
  b) Customers do not buy 1 or 2 packs of MICVs (like AAA, SAMs, artiller, etc); they buy companies and battalions of vehicles.
  c) Just like Stryker, each of the variants ends up being a relatively simple mod to the base chassis - more sales with less initial design effort.

I single top wish for "fixing" the infantry packs.

I know, I was the first to shout down any criticism of the new GHQ infantry figures. Oh, they are SO beautiful. But they are packaged in really REALLY awkward combinations.

This issue seems to cross all of the infantry packs made. In some cases it is mostly a matter of re-packaging existing figures, in other cases there are some very important figures that are missing.

As to the organizations, I believe an infantry pack should have all the troops and weapons needed to make up a 1-to-1 platoon. A heavy weapons pack should have all the troops and weapons needed to complete a company when added to three infantry packs (assuming, as in most cases, three platoons per companies), plus a little more, such that three heavy weapons packs could also complete the battalion support troops.

As to the troops, I feel that the infantry weapons that were featured in the most common formations should come first. That means Soviets with Mosin Nagant rifles (and bayonets), not Tokarevs. That means U.S. M1919 MGs and bazookas. After the most common formations are covered, seperate packs could be added over time for "** CENSORED **" formations (like Soviet Desantniks with PPSh's).

I will add to the reconfiguration of the infantry packs. We need more veriety.

I'll third the recommendation to add some variety to the infantry packs.

I'm for more variety in the infantry packs also and more poses as well. With the winter infantry GHQ is down to 5 poses from 6. I would like to see more guys advancing as per the moderns but also the firing poses as well. An advancing light MG would be really cool. I think 8 to 10 poses would be great. I echo MK1 on the Russians - additional heavy mortars and AT rifles and the Maxim MG with 2 crew figures would be a nice bonus. I like to see heavy weapons properly crewed - that means medium MGs with at least 2 crew members, medium to heavy mortars with 3 to 4 crew in different poses. I know that this may not happen but that is my wish.

If seconding were appropriate, I would back up regia marina's request for a Pola.

I would also like to see the ships suggested by DrBig. However, I would take exception to describing HMS Vanguard and USS Midway as 'what-if' ships. They acutally existed; just completed too late for WW II combat. HMS Lion was a true "what-if." If you produce H for the Germans and Montana for the US, why not Lion (especially the late-war design at 45000 t)?

If I had to limit my choices to a single model, I would suggest the UK "modified colony" class of light cruisers (with only three triple 6" turrets but additional anti-aircraft added). Not only were three of these ships completed during the war, most of the original colony class with four turrets were converted to this style.

I would like to see Soviet WWII Infantry with rifles and Ppsh smgs.
What the hobs, lets just say why don't we get an actual platoon TO&E to a pack. You know,with the correct weapons.
This way Troy can paint much more instead of converting all those overabundant SMGs into rifles with bayonets,and changing NVA 12.7s into maxims...

I usually don't have cause to post often on the forum because I prefer to soak up as much info and methods from everyone else.

I will wade in on this one and ask for more infantry variations for the next couple of years. Vehicles are great but it's the infantry that has to occupy and hold the real estate.

Working as a technician at Fort Benning's MOUT sites, Live Fire Shoothouse and Urban Assault Course sites has relly opened my eyes to the infantry's side of things. Fortunately I'll get to see some armour in action when the Armour School gets here!

GHQ's infantry is amazing these days. I still have unpainted individual infantry from the '70s! I had some 'suitcase' Saggers and SPG-9s out of the box the other day. They were geat then, I can only imagine what they would look like if they were redone today.

GHQ, PLeeeease give us some more infantry!
