I had gotten the vehicles with a similar idea to do Death Race 2000, but never considered using weapons and turrets from the micro armor range. Neat idea.

That game was awesome - I hadn't thought about it in about 25 years!!!

Excellent idea, I gotta find my old set and rules!!

I remember this game but after driving in San Francisco Bay Area Traffic daily and in L.A. traffic more than a few times I found the game too tame by comparison.

Yes, I played this game a lot in the mid-80's - I still have the rules, supplements and all the editions of the Autodueller Quarterly. As well as the card token cars, I also have quite a few metal models, from Citadel as I recall.

No, they are much smaller, they are closer to 6mm or a little bigger - maybe about 1/200 scale. I have an old-style police cruiser as it would have looked in the 80s in my hand - it is 32mm front to back.

Thanks, you just reminded me of when I used a hexadecimal editor and hacked my copy of "Autoduel" (Car Wars) for the Commodore 64. I made my "Killer Rabbit" using a VW chassis with 2 inches of armor in the back and mounting a rear facing 75mm cannon. It went about 140 mph. In that game you had to line up for the shot so if you were behind me you did all my work. On the bright side I never lost a tire by driving through the wreckage of my opponent  . Ahhhhhh, those were the days.

I wish GHQ made the Chevy 2 door master deluxe (the red one) or a Ford four door sedan (1948 would be great) in 1:285th.

Here are a few pics. Firstly the game book itself (Deluxe version of course), some of the ADQ issues and a couple of scenario modules.

Next some of the models and tokens. Metal models in the middle, a few of the card vehicles behind them and some markers on the road in front. At the back there's a turn/drift template and a few more card vehicles still on the sheet. There's a GHQ PzIIIJ in there for scale. Note that 30 years ago I was still painting everything with Humbrol enamels and one cheap brush.

Finally an unopened box of vehicles to show the manufacturer, Citadel.

Yes, 10mm would be about right, perhaps "small" 10mm. I'm not sure how clear they are in the pictures, but there are people in some of the vehicles, the open topped ones, and they are distinctly larger than 6mm, even GHQ figures.

I checked the car wars rules, and the scale for the track is 1/180.

I wonder if GHQ has spares for the N-Scale Sherman and M-3 Halftrack? You know, Ma Duce and company...?
