Hi folks,

having seen the new GHQ Fennek I have to say that it looks great!
Comparing the model to the photos of the original I was surprised how good the model is, especially the wheels, Optronic mast...

Go and get some!

Cheers Ben

Okay, so its been a week since I placed my order with the "web retailer" and I haven't seen or heard anything about my order, not even a charge against my credit card. Thinking about it now I guess its better to have not been charged and not received than to be out money and still waiting. So I call the good folks at "the company" to ask about my order. They are very helpful, have no trouble locating my order form, know exactly what I ordered and can give me a detailed accounting of what the holdup is. Excellent customer service! Takes a little of the sting out of still waiting around. Turns out all you guys who ordered Fenneks direct from GHQ are holding up my order - SO STOP IT!

Seriously though, lessons learned are I should have known they wouldn't have the new items in stock and would have to order from GHQ then turn it around to send to me. Was the extra 5% discount worth it? Right now I still say yes, the customer service is good and even GHQ might not have delivered anything to me in 1 week.

I have used that retailer several times and have no complaints. They take a while longer than GHQ, but they always get it there. Their customer service is great, and they always have a generous discount over buying directly. Not sure how they do this.

One other thing to add about that Other retailer. I think that the way their system works is that they don't have any stock on hand. They get an order, place it with GHQ, wait for it to get to them and then ship it to you. It usually takes them between three and four weeks to get me anything. Which is fine with me as I have more time than money.

My Fenneks arrived today - GHQ awesome job! My online retailer - Warweb - did a great job as well. Two weeks from the time I placed the order until they showed up at my door. In my opinion the 20% discount when I bought them was well worth the wait. Unfortunately some of my order is still back ordered - 1/3000 scale Type 21 Amazon FF which will be modified to make the 1/2400 scale Iranian Vosper Frigates. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for that project.

Now I think I'll have to get more Fenneks.

Paul

P.S. The new M1129 Mortar vehicle I ordered is fantastic - thanks again GHQ!

Paul,

Glad you got your stuff...maybe you can help me? How should i go about attaching the sensor masts, the hole is tiny...my hands not so much.

A dab of glue do the trick?

Cheers,

Shawn

Shawn,

I use gel style CCA glue (Krazy Glue brand), put a drop in the hole then use a pair of tweezers to put the mast in palce. The viscosity of the gel helped to hold the mast in place until it solidified. Worked pretty good. I did up about 1/3 with the mast extended the rest are in "travel mode".

Thanks...You have plans to paint yours ?

I have enough Fennek for my regiment now, but I love them...maybe I'll buy some for a training centre.

Overall once again, amazing model.

Shawn,

This weekend I hope to get them primed and painted with the NATO green. I have a book of German wheeled military vehicles with a handful of pictures of the Fennek from which I'll figure out the three tone pattern. There is a website www.panzerbaer.de that has three view drawings of some German equipment camouflage schemes but last I checked they didn't have the Fennek yet. They do have most of the other stuff if you're interested.

Good luck.

Shawn,

Update to my last post. I just checked the Panzerbaer site and they do have the Fennek paint scheme now. So that's what I'll be using for mine.

Hi Paul,

what is the name of the book (German wheeled AFVs) you have?

If you require more photos of the Fennek, ask Pit - I know that he made some excellent photos of the Fennek last year.

Cheers Ben
