Hey Ritter,

Talk about awesome work there, by the way, those pics of the Pak 43's, what did you base them onto?
They almost look like the small bases for Flames of War?

Yes, I now base medium and heavy AT/AA guns on the smallest FOW bases, 2-tube mortar sections on the medium bases and the 2 gun OBA artillery batteries on the largest bases.

The bases are more for convience as the price is outrageous. If I wasnt so lazy, I would make some bases out of plasticard.

I like your latest project. How much is the license fee?

Your FOW bases for the German AT's are really great. I might have to rebase my M-198 155mm Howitzers on them. As I have said before-- Inspiration!

Interesting. I don't think the price is that bad, I have some left overs from when FoW was played here in Red Deer, maybe I'll base some up on them.

I was thinking of basing my infantry on the smaller FOW bases. I wonder how it would look in the end though...the guns I like, but with just infantry? Not sure. Has anyone tried this yet?

There was a fellow here (pushbike?) that was showing his Infantry on FOW small bases - looked great!

The bases are very expensive (10.00 plus for 15 or so bases) compares to my usual 5.00 for 100 of the round, green, circle bases but I do like the larger size areas for more diorama like scenes.

Only drawback (besides the price

) is the larger playing area required as these bases do get a bit crowded in a smaller table.

I received my copy of schere kompanie,
Very impressed, I especially like the small scale 1:1 feel and the use of hexes.
Also the the level of detail is impressive, but I should of expected that having seen your models!

Glad you got it ok and its up to your expectations!

Canadian 25 lbrs as promised:
Based on a Large FOW base. The figures are the UK artillery sculpts with propellant and warhead shells added to 4 figures. Will add more HE rounds when time permits (Salute again

). The ammo cart has one door opened. Would have opened both but I had them painted before I decided to do a dio/wargame base.

Another project FIMO wooden/earthen and cement bunkers. Designs based on actual pictures I was able to get from the net. The earthen bunkers are for dug-in tanks. These are for the Canadians at Carpiquet scenario I will be hosting at the Salute 2007.

Tank Positions:

MG/Turret bunker (temp turret, adding French turret later.

Single Machingun bunker:

Two Machinegun Bunker

Every time I do something and I think "Yeah, that looks good" you come up with something like this.

Those 25lb'ers are superb.

I've been trying to do my off-board artillery like that for ages using Milliput to make the earth-works, and they sort-of look OK, but yours are just ace.

To echo FMJ's comment, where did you get the sand-bags and emplacements from?

I've just been trying to make emplacements for some Russky 203mm tracked Howitzers. Had a go at making a camo net to go over them by using some bandage material from a First Aid kit, painting it with Humbrol 155 and a bit of dark green, and just laying it over some roughly made supports cut from a wooden lolly stick.

I'll try and take some piccies this w/e and post them up. They're not as good as Ritters but not too bad.

Great works of art in your dio. Ritter. The same as with all of you guys who have put time and effort into your projects. Some of you guys go deeper into the dio or paintings of the minis than others but ,still you all do great jobs. I am amazed at the intricacies of the painting and dios. etc. I`ve been buying from GHQ for a long time and haven`t even painted my stuff to any kind of perfection. You guys(all of you) are great at what you do because you have put your efforts on this site and shown me that whatever you have done deserves acreditation. I`m greatly inspired .

Amazing. It is hard to find enough words of praise when you post up stuff like that!

I thought I was clever when I tried to make some emplacements just last week. Bought some self-drying clay (Mexican red clay), and sculpted up some emplacements that were sized just right for my penny-based infantry and MGs.

Then, when the clay dried, the edges all curled inwards/upwards.

After all of my sculpting efforts, they were expended on my local rifle range last Sunday as targets for my new scoped rifle. May have been a failure as micro-armor sculpts, but they made nice puffs of red dust in their new employment.

But I also tried making some sand-bags at the same time. They may have come out OK. Hard to tell right now, as they are just a pile of little bitty red blobs in a box at the moment. Gonna mount'em up to some bases and paint 'em up to make sand-bagged positions, see if it turns out reasonable. Won't be like Ritter-art, but may be reasonable if I'm lucky.

But I take a different approach when I talk to myself about my work. Every time I come up with something and I say to myself "Yeah, that looks good", I then add "Yeah, I've sure learned a lot by watching the masters at work on the GHQ Forum!"

All the bunkers/sandbags are all scratchbuilt from FIMO - same as SCULPY. A bake to harden clay that is very easy to work with. The 25 lbr. position has a CMP primemover still being painted to add and some HE warheads and the bunkers need some add-on ammo crates, wire, etc. but are mostly finished.

BattlerBritain, I was gonna try the nets as well - it may help to soak them in wite glue/water first to get them to hang realistically. Post some pics up when you get it finished.

For Canadian uniforms (slightly green Khaki), I use Humbrol 26 with a very small dab of 116 added or 29 with 150. Either works.

Uk Uniforms I use a browner Khaki, Humbrol 29 or even 118/119 for earlier (France 1940).
