A disappointing list coupled with a disappointing price increase. Please... don't blame oil.

Why are the majority of packs the same price? Why not based upon the actual amount of "material" used and the quantity of pieces per pack? You really don't have to answer....I know why.

I am assuming that the terrain maker will also follow suit with am increase "due to material cost" (?)

Want minis to not increase in price as much? Get environmentally friendly! SUVs take not only metal but insane amounts of gas. Drive a 4 cylinder, commute with friends, sell the Escalade. Get more minis!
Here! Here!! I second that!

For the amount per pack has something to do with not just materials of the mini's in the pack but the time and money of producing that mini's and actually an estiamate of how much of this mini's will cost.

No pack will actually ever cover their cost for a single pack. In fact (speculation here) I would guess that they proably have to sell "X" number of packs before they actually see a profit or even a "break even" point for them.

It is the same for everything produced anywhere. And unfourtantly oil is involved with everything in this modern world.

Well that is all I got. :D Going on a road trip (enviromentally sound car) for the weekend. Yes burning oil...but not at 15 mpg.

Later,

I think much of the reaction is due to how much more expensive GHQ is compared to the others.

Just thinking of it when I got into gaming as a teen. A pack cost about what I made in just over an hour. Now the average teen would have to work 2 hours to buy a pack.

BTW selling a car that is paid off to buy a car that is better on gas is a bad idea. The car that is better on gas will never pay for itself off in the use of gas. You can buy a LOT of gas for what it costs to buy a new car.

That being said. I am REALLY happy to see the Hiei as I need a couple more Kongos and my current one isn't built/painted to a standard I am happy with.

Thats how I was teaching my daughter about economics. When I first started working at $1.35 an hour I could buy gas at $.29 a gallon, but mostly at $.19 for a good while. That gave me a little over 4 to 6 gallons of gas at an hours worth of work. Now I beleive the minimum wage here is$5.25 an hour,so for the same labor not even 2 gallons.
Now I'm not surprised at the price increase,EVERYTHING is going up,and I do believe its the energy industry. After all, the "things" that are produced are ALL shipped. That shipping runs on fuel and fuel only. There is nothing to do about it,except pass the vasoline...wait thats a petro product too isn't it? You see,you can't get away from them.
As for the subject in hand...nice list I'm curious about those new Germans!!

It's great to see the U.S. WW1 BBs start coming out. I've put up with the very out of scale and cruddy Minifleet US BB's for gaming, so it will be nice to have some more accurate models. I just hope they don't forget the Michigan's. Even though they didn't make it to the UK with the 6th Battle Squadron, they're interesting ships to include in a scenario.

Last night some friends and I fought an expanded Heligoland Bight scenario to test out smaller ships in the rule set I'm writing. We know the battleship actions work well, but the rules should also give reasonable results for the rather more confused melees that occurred in WW1 when the cruiser and destroyer flotillas mixed it up. That's harder to do because the fire control on smaller ships was so primitive you have to get close to get hits, then the ships are changing position significantly with the 3.5 minute timescale I'm using.

Perhaps later in 2008 we'll start seeing Great War ships from some of the smaller navies, like France, Italy and Austro-Hungary. They didn't have very many classes of BB, but it would be nice to see pre-dreadnoughts for those navies issued as well.

GHQ New Releases

Post by pmskaar »

As with all the GHQ annual lists there is good news and some disappointment as well.
The good news for me whose primary interest with GHQ is WWII land followed by both WWI and WWII naval there is some good stuff here. Looking forward to the new British AEC armored cars, the French 47mm AT gun (How about some French crews for these -please!), the M-48A3 - yeah its not WWII but I like it for Vietnam and hopefully the Israeli version can be done next year, new German infantry - perhaps late war this time, and most of the WWI and WWII ships.
Maybe next year we can see the Ju-87 B Stuka and some updated weapons packs for all the WWII infantry including the medium and heavy mortars, piats for the Brits, and other crew served weapons. I will submit my list on the wishlist so as to not take up too much space here. I'm ok with the new prices - everything goes up sooner or later. Thanks GHQ.

I am very Excite! (bad Borate voice over)

Some great stuff here GHQ, so many lines, so many wants to fill. I see at least 10 kits I will be looking for!

For the WWII crowd (guilty as charged), the German Inf numba' 2 should well received as well as the Romainians,Brit AC's. and French 47...I also can't wait to see the Rolls!! But I kinda wish there was a Matilda I too... and Russian ATRs...grumble...grumble...

The Ju-88 should be a wicked model as well as the new ships listed - might have to start collecting a navy soon!

Thanks GHQ!

Not A Great Release List This Year

Post by SeaHarrier2006 »

Hi everyone,

Well having just seen the models being released for the next 12 months, I have to say I’m very disappointed to see that there are no new Modern Micronaughts being released. :(

With this being the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War, I can’t help thinking GHQ have missed a great opportunity by not including some Ships from this war. As well as some vessels from other modern navies

It looks like I will have to be content with models from some of the other makers, until GHQ finally decide to add to their Modern Naval line. As well as having a go at making my own models.

There is nothing in this years release’s, which even remotely excite me I’m afraid. Here’s hoping that GHQ can get their act together in time for next years release’s. So until then, it’s back to the drawing board for me, and roll on next years list.

Best wishes to all,

SeaHarrier2006

N521 M119 105mm howitzer

Great - Falklands, Australian and US

but can we please have the gun alone in the pack so we can create decent sized batteries - I suspect we already have the tow vehicles we need and are currently using other manufacturers lumps of metal as a stand in gun waiting for the day you released yours - now they can be upgraded.

Alllright then - if its oil prices then I guess we can all look forward to a price cut when it inevitably comes DOWN in price. Hogwash!

Hey GHQ, any hints as to what models of aircraft will be in those long awaited 1/2400th aircraft packs for Britain, Germany and Italy? Please? (I said please - they say it's a magic word.)

Thanks,
Chris

I would buy one even though I have no interest in WW I. Just cause it's the Michigan(ok it's state snobbery)

Hi all :D !

Good list GHQ 2007-2008.

- JU-88 is good for ground attack and bombering.
- English AEC MK III is very good :D for complete Recon Armored car regiments with Daimler armored car.

- Very special thanks for M48 A3 :D :D : for playing Vietnam US Armored Cav, i'ts very great ! M113 ACAVs won't be alone from this time  !
- O-1 Birddog is very great too for Vietnam :D ! Perfect for playing Forward Air Observer (FAO for artillery, LZ reco, ground attack with Skyraider, Bronco ....)
- Ontos is good.
Just add more vietnamese civilians (with bicycles, motos, ice cream triporteurs), US Marines, one new US armored truck, engineer LVTP5, ARVN infantry, some elit troops like LURRP or SEALs, and the Vietnam theatre's ground materials list can be almost complete !

- Very special thanks for Diamond T Wrecker :D :D ! Now, it could be possible to complete maintenance units in US Armored battalions after 1943 :D !
Wrecker can be found with M26 Pacific "Dragon wagon" (2 Wrecker for 3 or 4 M26) in US Armored Division's maintenance Btn.
Wreckers were also present in the medium US Tank Btn's service company (2 Wreckers with 2xM32 or M31 recovery tank), in engineers Btn, etc....
Will it have a hard cab or an open cab ?
With hard cab, this new pack open the way of a next one : Diamond T with trailor.... :D
(good model to transport LCVPs for the Rhin crossing :D !)

- Instead of very modern M119 Howitzer I had prefered M102 105mm :( : For playing US Vietnam fire support bases, for playing US forces in Lebanon, for assault on Grenade Island.... We don't have light towed US artillery for Vietnam war (and post Vietnam war) except the "old" WWII US M101 105 howitzer :(

- I'm not very fond of modern Chineses items :x because I don't play Gulf war in Irak and... science fiction :D

- News french modern materials are very great :) I hope next years VLTT P4, GBC 8Kt medium truck and French infantry (infantry and Hv weapons 1990-2000) will appear. It would be perfect :D ! (We can play Lebanon, ex-Yougoslavia, Gulf war,...with them)
(Many French military's officers would be "contaminate" by GHQ's minis if these items were create !!! ...New customers in France....?)

- French news WWII items are cool too !

- Romanians items are cool even I don't project to play with them :? (I discovered some of us on the forum who are interested in. I suppose they will enjoy these items...)

- German infantry (G525) #2 is a good idea. But what will they look like ? (end war clothing and weapons ?)

I'm a little disappointed to read that the price will increase in july 2007 :( but like JB said, I think everything is going up ; there is nothing to do about it (oil or not oil  ).
At last, one dollar in six years, it's not very excessive :?
Next increase in six year  ?
Pibber.
(Long life to GHQ !)
