If nothing else, the upcoming price jump has inundated GHQ with orders! I have also ordered quite a chunk over the last couple of weeks - approaching $1,000. I hope my wife doesn't find out!

Yea I had to do some negotiating casue I knew I wouldn't be able to "hide" this size of an order.

I convinced her that I would be saving $500 (over the new prices) and even more with the peice meal ordering with each order having a shipping cost (even though the shipping that GHQ charges is probably less than it costs them).

I purchased modern micro armour to add to my vietnam stuff already on hand, then stuff for Arab-Israeli wars, and stuff to make a modern German Army.

Plus purchased the buildings for Tropical, and Mid-East.

$250 of it was for a friend as well.

I focused on beefing up my WWII US Army (1/285) and US Naval forces (1/2400), along with some modern US Armor.

Well I am pretty much starting from scratch. I had Micro Armour before but sold it off to buy a house.

When I sold it off I was able to pay the earnest money which isn't to bad. That was nearly four years ago (think Sep. would be four years). I hated doing it (even though this purchase will surpass what I had before by a 10 fold in sheer numbers.)

How long will it take to paint up? A long time! I plan on getting the general theme for all the mini's done then going back and doind the ultra fine details to them as I get time.

What I mean by that is get the camo/base coat of them done, then at a later time go back doing the details like headlight/tail lights where aplicable, shovels, tracks, decals, etc.

Plus in the purchase there are 35 aircraft. Why so much aricraft? Going to make some dedicated Eygyptian, Syrian, Israeli, Modern German, Netheralands, and US helo's with their markings and cammo. Think I am going to have the most fun doing up the Israeli aircraft with their camo. Then finish out my Vietnam aircraft as well.

I am one of those people who switch from job to job and never can quite finish a project after a certain point until I start to use them anyways. So this method should do me fine.

The Strykers, and Modern Germans will probably sit awhile any ways until I finish up the Israeli's and Arab forces and Vietnam forces.

It also helps that I am going to school full time right now to finaly finish out my degree. (Living off my sugar momma spouse, and cashed in my retirement I had with the city. As long as I go to work with the city in five years I can pay back the retirement with no real penalty for cashing it in, except of course the taxes I paid on it but worth it I believe in the long run) With that being said I am only taking three to four classes a semester since I have over 100 credits already. Yet I still have three years to do, due to the way they offer the classes up here at UAA. There will be some semesters I'll have a hard time being a full time student. So I'll be taking 12 credits where most students trying to do the degree are taking 16 to 19 per semester. Which means a little time painting to "unwind" is the perfect answer.

It was easy to sell the stuff before since never could get folks to play using the rules I had. Now that Cold War Commander came out there are three other folks up here who play with those rules so now there are players. Getting a game in once or twice a month. So far it has been Vietnam games, with expressed interest in the Arab-Israeli wars. Plus these are folks who played Flames of War a lot before and where looking for other games to play to break up doing the same game over and over.

I want to get some games in during the 70's to early 80's in a hypothetical Europe. Honestly think Warsaw Pac forces would of gave NATO a run for there money during this time frame and reading the results (studying for putting on a game on) the Israeli-Arab wars how the M-60's, and M-113's fared in modern combat. They did good but they still had a lot of casulties with weaknesses. It just would of been interesting to say the least and am glad it never actually happened.

Could say: "Oy, that must have been a LOT of micro-armor!"
... or could respond: "Well, I guess we each have our priorities, but I'd NEVER sell off MY micro-armor!".

Or I could just leave it to stand on its own, and nominate it for the first entry in the GHQ Forum Hall of Fame!

Oh, and the more detailed your accounting of what you purchased, the more interested I'll be as a reader. Can't get enough of THIS story...

Kee-riste, if I bought that much stuff at once, the packs at the bottom would be likely candidates for future archiological digs!

Don't know about others, but I still have stuff in my "not yet painted" box from a big 1995 order I placed by mail. You remember mail ordering? Before there were websites and on-line purchasing?

Just for fun I counted the number of unpainted packages of Micro-Armor in the drawer left to paint. Too Many! We ordered some packages to fill in our Infantry for the Afrika campaign but I still have way too many to do before I start something new...

I know what you mean. I've got about 100 US infantry arrayed for detail painting but they've sat untouched for 6-7 months now. I'm continually finding the odd box of minis that are primed but not painted or painted but not detailed. Wish I had more time.
