Micro Force ACW
Can anyone give me advice on creating campaigns, and a good method of scaling up to corps or even army level? I have some ideas, but I would like to hear yours.

Well I never put on a campaign myself. I always thought Jackson in the valley would be a good one. The forces are about division size with Jackson versus Banks, Shields, & Fremont. Plus none of the Union forces co-operate with each other so it should run as a four player campaign. You can get the order of battle from "Battles and Leaders" or find an old boardgame.
hope this helps.

I have not experiemented with upscaling on the table top yet but I have put some thought into it.
The most obvious one to me would be to model regiments on the tabletop per the Micro Force rules but label them as brigades. The brigade commander becomes the division commander. The division commander would become the corps commander. I really think this would be a seemless upscale.
A brigade with it's regiments on line is identical to a division with it's brigades on line just a different scale. I would not adjust movement distances or weapon ranges either.
Somebody about 20 years ago published a ACW Jackson in the valley campaign book. A game club (Manhatten Manuever Group) I played with when I was stationed with the Army at Ft. Riley, KS in the late 80s used it and we had some very fine games. Sorry, but I can not remember the name of the book.
