Mark,

If you haven't already ordered yet... I won an ebay auction for a Wasp which I expect will arrive next week. I'll be able to tell you exactly what it comes with. I don't remember what my earlier ones came with since I ordered them when they first came out plus I ordered extra helos and harriers since then. It is the CH-46 by the way not the CH-47 that is incuded. I attempted a kitbashing to make -47s out of the 46s which are okay as long as you don't mind the size error.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for that, i'll hold off sending in my order until I get back home next Saturday. I have a few Harriers left over from my HMS Invincible which I can use for now on my LHA- Tarawa model, with maybe a few home made Chinooks to which will be due to enter service in 2 weeks time :D.

Cheers for now,

Mark. (SeaHarrier2006)

I much prefer the CH-46. They can be used on replenishment ships for VERTREP. Not to mention it's the right bird for Marines.

Thanks for the information

Mark (et al) -
My WASP came with a single sprue of Harriers, two of the very nice, new 10-aircraft sprues of CH-46's, two 3-aircraft sprues of what look to be either smaller-than-scale CH-53's or perhaps they are SH-3's (they are about the right size for those), and lastly a single 3-helo sprue of SH-60's (same one that is included with all the modern USN surface combatants).
If you can forgive the CH-53 / SH-3 sprues (or just practice a little imagination and just say that they're 53's and be done with it), it's a pretty nice airwing that the folks at GHQ toss in with this ship.
Cheers!
Kevin

Kevin,

Thanks, that's what I thought was included but wasn't sure. I think the 46s are great so I ordered about ten more sprues as I recall to outfit my LHAs from the other guys.

Does anyone have any good Ro-Ro ships that represent the MPS ships? I'm considering some SeaBattle ships but I can't get pictures and I'm not sure they're right for the role I have in mind.

Great forum you all have here, and a great thread this is. Ive placed several orders from GHQ over the past year or so, and just have to chime in to a forum this good! Especially since i do have a question....

Anyone have any idea if any models of USS Idaho or New Mexico (BB42 and BB40, not the older ones) are made in 1/2400? GHQ has Mississippi, but the 3 in this class all looked different enough (during WWII that is) that id prefer to not use this model as stand-ins for the other 2 if i dont have to...hint hint...

Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, no one makes a 1/2400 model of New Mexico class as they were originally built. I am hoping that GHQ will continue the series of GWS. If they follow the sequence, New Mexico class should be about GWS7. (I would prefer that they go back to get South Carollina and some of the armored cruisers before continuing past Pennsylvania.)

Also, there seems to be no 1/2400 model of Idaho as she was in late WW II. This has been suggested in several of the wish lists.

Superior makes a 1/2400 model of New Mexico in 1944 appearance. It is New Mexico, but the level of detail is definitely inferior to that of GHQ. There is also a resin model from Panzerschiffe.

For what its worth, why don't you put your preferences in the Consolidated Micronauts Wish List for 2008-2009?

Does anyone have any pictures, references or websites that show the deck markings of the two ex-US Independence class CVLs in French service in the 50's-60's?

Paul

(edited to add the following)
I found this picture for the build-up to the Suez crisis, which is what I'm after, and it appears to keep the US style deck markings but I was hoping for better confirmation.

Ray,

Kevin's earlier response on th LHD airwing was spot on. 8 AV-8Bs, 20 CH-46s, 6 SH-3s (intended to be -53s I'm sure) and 3 SH-60s. I've ordered a bunch more Harriers as I intend to have this one operate as a "Harrier Carrier" which is what Boxer did during the war. I think it was Boxer, I'll have to double check.

In other news, for those interested, I've posted the first review in my Yahoo Group 'Tow Tank' covering the new Leander that was released earlier this year stop by and check it out. I will eventually review all the ships I have but it will take ages to getr them all written up.

Hi to both Kevin and Paul,

Thanks for the info about the Airwing on the Wasp class LHD. I have been away for the week, which is why the reply to you both was delayed.

It's time for me to request funding for the order a Wasp LHD to go in the the funing committiee, which sould sail throu.

I had a nice surprise when I arrived back home and found 5 Modern U.S. Carriers waiting in my yards for painting, All from a different company, so no names but let's just say they're not as Superior as GHQ models

Time for more painting, so speak to you all again soon,

http://anciendesporteavions.free.fr/Pho ... ayette.htm

there are 3 photo albums near the bottom of the list which show extra pictures of her as well.

Hope this helps a bit for you,

Mark,

Thanks, it seems to confirm that they kept the basic US deck markings just changed the hull number.

I did a little more digging and it was Bataan not Boxer that operated as the "Harrier Carrier during the 2003 Gulf War. She operated up to 26 Harriers in support of the Marines ashore. I remember flying over her a couple of times and she and her cohorts looked very large operating so close to shore.
