New and questions on THE GAME

Hello,

New member and new to GHQ wargaming. I bought the GHQ THE GAME rule book for WWII and had some questions that I was hoping someone could shed some light on.

I did look through the topics but did not find the answers I am looking for. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. GHQ sells many different troops choices for WWII, general infnatry, heavy weapons and anti-tank squads. But in the rule book it seems they do not differentiate betwen the different kinds, but more consolidating all into one group.

Example on pg 45 Weapon Data for the americans infantry 43 - 45 has an AP/HE 5/5. So I can assume that when I make my 1"x1" personal stands they can be mix matched with the heavy and anti-tank troops with the normal infantry?

2. On pg. 108 I was reading on the example of scenario design and had a question on the British point cost list on pg. 109. It says 2x25lb Howitzer @ 162 points each. But on the weapon data page of the UK it says they are at 177 each. Is there a point discount I am missing? There are a couple others down the list also.

3. Last question for now This should be an easy one. I think I know the answer, but I just wanted to make sure. On the TO&Es, I shall use pg 89 as an example.

If it says Light Cruiser Squadron 5xM3 'Stuart'. Do I represent this with 5 1"x1" squares, each with 1 'Stuart' tank?

This is totally up to you. What I have done though, is use just basic infantry, that way they can be used for early on in the war or late war. IMO, its no really necessary, but if you want to do it that way, go ahead.

Yes you do. 1 model Stuart on 1 stand, 1"x1".

Another question.

I have the model M4A1 MMC Mortar Carrier, but it isn't listed in the book, unless it is the M21 MMC?

Yep, M21 is just the late war designation, I think. IIRC, the only difference is the model of halftrack chassis used, & the performance was virtually identical. Those are the stats that I use and they work just swell.

Does the UK and (and I think the Polish ) are the only ones who have infantry engineers for 11 to 12 points?

All the rest (German, US etc) you have to pay 10 points to turn a normal infantry squad into engineers? making them 22 to 23 points espensive engineers?

The British were the only military in WWII where engineers were organic to every battalion in the British Army. In all other cases, engineers were in separate units, and had to be what today would be called "cross-attached" to the force you are 'buying' for today's game. Therefore, UK engineers are less expensive. In this case, I'm guessing that the effort to get engineers assigned to your command, and the transport, etc. required to get them to you, accounts for the extra costs.
