6mm Gamers in Chicago?

Post by Iron Horseman »

As some of you read in my other threads - I'm new to 6mm gaming. as FoW in 15mm is where I'm coming from.

Who's gaming 6mm in/near the Chicago area?

What rule sets are people playing in 6mm around here?

I haven't seen a lot (any) 6mm action at the local hobby store I visit on occasion (Games Plus) they do however appear to stock GHQ 6mm minis (a big chunk of the line from what I can tell), so that would lead to me believe their is some 6mm stuff happening around town - or they probably wouldn't stock it at all.

I'd love to know there's some action happening, so I can pick up the rules and join you guys once I get a little farther along with my 6mm armies.

We have a small group on the Illinois/Wisconsin border or 1 1/2 drive from Ohare. We play Spearhead and Modern Spearhead for larger scale units, and Panzertruppen for 1-to-1 scale. We use 6mm or 1/285th scale for both games. We also have a large collection of 15s that will be used out in the back parking lot this summer. Like Ritter mentoned you really need the room if you want the 15s to have an "effective" LQQk...
We also play 1/2400 scale ships,WWII and use GQ2. We use GQ2 because we like fleet actions and this ruleset drops alot of detail so these larger units may be used.

How often are you guys gaming?

Sounds like I might have to get my hands on a copy of Panzertruppen and Spearhead?

Sometimes its months between games and other times once or twice a week. Lately its been pretty often, but thats due to the fact that we are getting a game ready for Little Wars. That will be in less than two weeks now.
Its kind of like a madhouse around here. We have 2 SS Panzergrenadier Divisions, 4 Soviet Tank corps, and a Rifle Division being organized on a 1 base = a pltoon scale. Even at this scale thats a lot of stuff to deal with.

Well, at least I know there is some action happening somewhat close by. I may drop you a line once I get a little farther with my 6mm Germans - to see when you guys are planning to game next.
