WW2 Russian infantry

Post by princerobin »

Hello everyone,

I've become interested in collecting WW2 Eastern front forces and was wondering about the Russian individual infantryman pack.

I'm under the impression that the figs are armed with semi-autos or SMGs and was wondering roughly what come in each package and how many of each there are.

Thank you

They are carrying ppsh sub machine guns and a svt40 auto rifle, which looks like the standing infantryman is firing an ak-47. The detail is nice but I have heard a lot of comments from forum memebers that they wished the infantry were equiped with the bolt action rifle, which none of them have. There is roughly 60 per pack. The heavy weapons pack have light mortars, light and heavy machine guns. All in all they are pretty good. For the heavy 120mm mortar I just use the mortar for the modern Soviet heavy weapons pack. Hopefully this was helpful.

Thanks DAK

Thats pretty much what I wanted to know. Shame there aren't any with bolt action rifles, as I'm not sure I want to convert a whole company's worth of figs.

Oh well

Hello Troy,

In your conversion tutorial you mention cutting of the magazines and lengthening the barrel. I was wondering just how you do this. You mention solder and an iron, but I'm afraid I don't understand how its done.

Excellent work by the way, thanks for putting up the info...

I use an x-acto blade and nail clippers to carve away the curved magazine of the ?AK-47? and needle-nose pliars to squish the barrel to a thinner and longer rifle shape. For the PPSH SMG, I carve away the drum mag and add a barrel with a mico solder torch - VERY time consuming.
