Modern Microarmour Wish List 2009-2010
Hi everyone,
Following Donald M. Scheef's example, I have decided to create this 'metawishlist' for modern microarmour suggestions for GHQ to produce. I have limited the list to moderns instead of also including WW2, because I don't play the latter and have only got limited time available to keep the list up to date. I have also decided to include only suggestions which have been mentioned by two different people (however, I will try to keep track of every suggestion in the Exel file). The limitation to moderns and two mentions should hopefully keep the list clear and easy to look at.
Now, the following starting list is based on every suggestion of a modern vehicle I can remember, as well as my own preferences. Therefore, this list is not 100% objective. With all of your help this will hopefully soon be mended.
Please post your own suggestions in this topic and I will include them in the next update. Or if you agree with any of the following suggestions, please do not hesitate to say so. I would like to include other peoples wishlists as soon as possible, to get some differentiation between the suggestions.
So, without further ado, here is the list (LAST UPDATED ON JULY 23rd)

Hi,
good to see this list.
I will post my wishes and try to say why I want them and give additional info as GHQ said this would make things easier and more likely to be successful.
At first I want to second the CV90 AIFV. The Swedish Strf 9040B would be a good point to start from. This vehicle has the basic layout which should give GHQ the opportunity to build derived versions if required.
The Swedish CV90 saw service in Liberia (UN operation).
An alternative would be the Norwegian CV9030, which could be used (even it differs in detail) for Finland and Switzerland as well. Norwegian vehicles were used in Iraq (have to verify this) and saw combat in Afghanistan.
At last the CV90 is in use with six countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands) and lots of different versions are available and most of them in use.
Another Swedish vehicle which would be a good addition would be the Bv 206 which is in widespread use with numerous countries, nearly everywhere.
The British need the uparmoured Challenger 2 MBT. Uparmoured Challenger 2 were used in Kosovo and Iraq but every combat involving British MBTs will see this variant. I opt for the recent version which includes add-on armour for the turret. This model should be rather easy to make, as the basic is already (Challenger 2, add-on armour / armoured skirts were modelled for the uparmoured Challenger 1) available.
At last before this vehicle is made GHQ should redo the turret of their Challenger 2 which differs from the original (especially the shape of the turret rear!).
Furthermore the British Forces need a capable ARV. The FV434 is not an ARV but a maintenance vehicle.
There is no modern British recovery vehicle. I think the Challenger ARRV would be the best choice. Nevertheless the FV513 MRRV would be a very nice model for this task as well. For both vehicles the basis is already available (Challenger MBT, Warrior AIFV). Maybe a set with both vehicles could be an option (like the one with the M88 and M578).
A goody would be the Trojan AVRE. There is always use for a modern Engineer vehicle.
For a better overview my list:
Sweden, Strf 90 AIFV
Sweden, Bv 206
UK, Challenger 2 MBT uparmoured
UK, Challenger ARRV and/or FV513 Warrior MRRV
UK, Trojan AVRE
Kind regards,
Ben

I'm pretty happy with what we are seeing out GHQ both last year and in the coming year, so I'll add just a single model -- AMX-VCI. Possibly the most numerous and widely-used modern not currently modeled by GHQ. Extensive service with much of Western Europe in 1960s-1970s, many still in inventory right through the end of the Cold War. Should be an easy model, as AMX-13 chassis is already available.

Modern Micro Armor Wish List 2009 - 2010
Although my primary miniatures interest is WWII Micro Armor, I do have an interest in some modern stuff as well. I define the modern era as anything Post WWII up to the present. My interest in this period is not the contemporary or current equipment being produced but for some of the earlier items used in historical conflicts or possible hypothetical conflicts such as the NATO vs. Warsaw Pact era of the late 1940's to the late 1980's. Based on that criteria here is my list.
1. T-62. GHQ currently makes one but this one is showing its age a bit. This one needs to be brought up to the current high standards GHQ has set for itself over the last 20 plus years. This one was used by Syria and Egypt in the 1973 War and was a mainstay of Soviet Tank Forces in the 1960's and 70's.
2. BMP1. This one is also showing its age a bit. A separate turret would also be nice.
3. Israeli M-48. I was happy to see a new updated model of this one last year that would represent an M-48 during Vietnam. I would like to see an Israeli version of this for the 1973 War. I haven't seen any new GHQ models in the last several years of any Israeli equipment for the 1967 or 1973 Wars and there is still more to do.
4.Israei M-60A1. At the risk of being called another spoiled M-60 seeker or words to that effect, I would like to have the Israel version of this one. Currently, GHQ makes the M-60 A1, 2 versions of the A-3, and the late Israeli M-60 for contemporary forces. This would be nice to have as well.
5. Arab and Israeli infantry from the 67 and 73 Wars. The current Israeli infantry is the more contemporary type. I suppose I could use Russian modern infantry for Arabs but there are some kit and equipment changes that probably need to be made such as the famous Suitcase Sagger ATGM and maybe ditching the backpacks on the infantry.
6. JS-3. This model is showing its age a bit as well. With the advent of the Wehrmacht 1947 line, perhaps GHQ can devote some effort into some of the early Postwar vehicles such as the BTR 40 suggested by Jason Afrika and the T-54 as well as some others for the Allies.
7. T-54. Good for 50's and 60's Warsaw Pact and Arab Israeli.
8. BTR 40. This should make 2 votes for this one.
9. Israeli M-3/M-5 halftrack. These were the more common transports for Israeli infantry in the '67 and '73 wars and had some mods that make them just different enough to warrent a separate model from the M-3 and M-5 WWII halfracks by GHQ.
10. BTR 152. I know GHQ makes this one already but I do believe there were several versions of this one. This would be good for NATO Vs. Warsaw Pact in the 1960's and Arab-Israeli Wars.
I will keep my list to 10. I hope that there are some others out there like me that have an interest in early modern and Arab-Israeli and maybe some of these will get multiple votes.

Modern Wish List
I made a mistake on my earlier post. It seems I can't keep my BTR's straight. GHQ actually makes 3 different models of the BTR 152 so no need to do another in my opinion. I may have been thinking of the open topped BTR 50 instead.

I guess I'll add my 2 cents:
1. U. S. Modern artillery crews. Need them for m M-198's and M-119's.
2. Might as well add U. S. Vietnam artillery crews. Can't build a firebase without them.
3. LVTE-5A1, the engineer amtrac (Vietnam).
4. LVTC-5A1, the command amtrac (Vietnam).
5. Javelin ATGM, AT-4, and USMC SMAW teams for current ops.

Noted!
I agree with you on the need for modern artillery crews, but wouldn't Vietnam arty crews be too similar to WW2 US summer artillery crews?
Modern Javelins, AT-4s and SMAWs would be nice, but I have allready started my own. Stinger crews are very easily transformed into SMAW's and with some work, Javelins can be made from the present Dragons. Still, new GHQ models would get my vote!
I will be walking the West Highland Way the next two weeks, so I will update the list when I get back. In the meantime, keep 'em coming.
