Trouble registering on forum and pics of my finished painted

Post by ISNJH »

I tried to make an account for the first time on this forum a few weeks back and was waiting and waiting for the email activation to arrive but it never did arrive. So I thought maybe to it had not gone through so I went to try and make my account again and it said my email address had been banned :/
So in desperation because I want to be part of this forum as an active modeler and painter of GHQ models, I setup a yahoo that is not my primary email so I could register on the forum again. I am not a spammer or trouble maker and I would like to be able to use my primary email account to get alerts to replies to my topics or posts. Can I please have my email address unbanned so I can get alerts at my main email??.

With that aside I must say I really like the GHQ models I have gotten so far, I have so far gotten the SAC 9 B-52 bombers started and almost have done still need to paint the windows on the front, see image below..

And over the weekend I finished painting up my pack of T-80’s I ordered from the web site. Here are some images of my finished T-80’s ready to fight on the tabletop :D

Hello ISNJH. Welcome to our little corner of the internet.

Sorry to hear that you had trouble signing-up for the forums.

Please understand that we have had a lot of trouble with SPAMMING on the forum over the past couple of years. In response, GHQ has taken several measures, including a fairly involved sign-up proceedure and a set of volunteer MODERATORS (including yours truly), who have the primary responsibility of patrolling the threads for SPAM.

It may well be that you did not complete the sign-on proceedures correctly the first time you tried to sign up. You can be rejected if you do not answer the questions, if you answer the questions without mentioning any interest in wargaming or miniatures (or scale modelling or trains), or if you listed a commercial website in your profile.

Also, there are some server IP addresses that are specifically banned. These occured when many SPAMs were observed coming from particular servers which had no legitimate forum participants. It is possible that you are the first legitimate user to route to this forum from a server that has been banned for routing too much SPAM.
So in desperation ... I setup a yahoo that is not my primary email so I could register on the forum again. I am not a spammer or trouble maker and I would like to be able to use my primary email account to get alerts to replies to my topics or posts. Can I please have my email address unbanned so I can get alerts at my main email??
The step you've taken was a reasonable compromise. This forum generates relatively little outbound email, so using an alternative addy for this purpose should work well enough for now.

If you want to ensure you receive alerts on new products and/or website specials, I suggest you sign up for the free e-mail list. This is a seperate function from your forum registration, and should work even with an email address that does not work for the forum.

These suggestions are just that ... suggestions. I am only a volunteer here on the forum, and do not work for nor represent GHQ management. But if you follow these steps you'll get most of what you want, even if it is all a bit more complicated than you might prefer.

I would also suggest that you use the "Contact GHQ" function of the forum, and give your request for un-banning directly to GHQ customer service. The GHQ folks are a very helpful and responsive. I expect they'll figure out a way to simplify it all for you.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Mark for the welcome, I do have one question I need some help on with my tanks, I have not been able to find a clear photo of the top of the T-80 showing where the machine guns gets placed. I have never worked with these mini's before and want them to look right. so if someone could post a clear picture of there T-80 showing the right place to glue the machine gun on top I would be very thankful.

Hello ISNJH,
and welcome aboard. I have some pics of some T-84Us (upgraded T-80s by the Ukraine) that I made. The pics show the same location that your T-80s will have them located. Even though my MGs are a different type the location is the same. I hope this helps

ISNJH- I like what I see. Your T-80's are quite nice...care to share about how you about with getting the color you wanted? Otherwise very

JB- like you stuff as well. Very well done...especially with the numbers on the turrets. :D

Welcome to the forum. As Mk I has already outlined, we have had some problems with spammers over the years and have tightened things up quite a bit. It may not be possible to figure out what has happened with your registration attempt, but it's very likely that one of the possibilities that Mk I explained came into play. We want to welcome all legitimate gamers, models, historians, or those who are just curious about our products. Because of the problems that we have had in the past, we have (along with a lot of good suggestions from our forum members) decided to err on the safe side and try to keep out all of the junk that the spammers like to post. Thank you for bearing with us, we hope that you will enjoy the wealth of information and comraderie that can be found here everyday.

Thank you for your support,
GHQ

Here is a picture of my tank with the MG placed. Do I have it in the right position and is the MG the right way up. In the pictures Jb posted it looks like the ammo drum is on the side of the machine gun but on mine it looks like it is on top of the machine gun :/ hope you guys can keep giving me advice on getting the MG the right way because I want my tanks to look accurate

Of course JB has it right.

Round thingie, the AA sight, goes up. Peg shaped thingie, the pedestal that mounts to
the turret roof, goes down. Rectangular thingie, the ammo box, goes to the side.

At least that seems to be the way it has worked best when I have looked into it.

Ok I used a bit of wax to hold the gun in place while taking a quick photo of how I will now be placing my guns on the tanks. let me know if its right now, if it is I will finish painting the guns and glue them onto the tanks.
