10mm ACW: A Humble Beginning

Post by iAugustus »

Greetins All,

First time poster so an introduction might be in place. I'm Antti Heiskanen and some of you might know me and my work under the name iAugustus from different forums. The most of my painting is commission work nowdays, but these little buggers are all for me :D

Beginnigs of my hopefully rapidly expanding ACW force:

Very nice. I'm not much of a painter, so for ACW, I restricted myself to 6mm by Adler. Your 10mm look really great.

Are those soldiers in the front rank convicts?

Nicely done! Impressive shading and nice work on the flags. First Nationals? Can't quite tell from the angle but these are suprebly painted. Augustus Victrix!

Thank you for the kind comments, guys.

Well we are going with rather tightly packed basing and there is no room to fiddle around. I figured in this small scale the last rank firing back of the head of the first doesn't really look noticeble on the gaming table with lot of troops.

Yes, aimed to create an illusion of the 1st National flag. :D

Hi iAgustus,
This is how I game ACW. Mine are 15s though. One thing nice about this, is that I can aquire many different poses. I feel this a little more pleasing to the eye by getting rid of the "Cookie cutter" effect.
Below is a couple of Union regiments and Battery "B" 4th US Artillery advancing on Dunkard church. Yes, we play 1 to 1 and sometimes 1 to 5 if we want to command larger formations.

That's some really impressive painting iAugustus - puts my attempts to shame. I hope you'll post some more pictures as your army expands.
