I just got an update from the prototype people this morning these are how the parts turned out for the base of the patriot mini and remember these parts are in 285 scale..

I still have to do the last parts of the patriot unit including the wheels that will be made part of the base main part when I cast the part.

let me know what you guys think..

I don't know how it works, but perhaps GHQ would be interested in buying this mastermodel and casting and selling it to us?

Now there's an idea which may be worth pursuing! There are some pretty talented folks who participate on this message board -- particularly, some of the models shown on the "scratchbuilding" thread. I know a lot of the stuff that is scratchbuilt might be considered "niche" models -- but then again, there could be a market for some of them. And GHQ has shown over and over and over that they are capable of casting and selling top-notch models! Could some of "us" (not me! ) build "masters" for GHQ to cast and market?

This is how more than a few 1:1250 ships get built and sold to other modelers -- is it worth consideration in our "neck of the woods"?

Just an idea...

Tom Stockton

I plan on being selling them when I get the process worked out for molding them and make them on demand for now I am getting the parts together and then will work on trying to cast them.

my current patriot model is looking ok so far but later on I plan on doing a more high detailed mesh for making a prototype of once I have exprince in molding tricky detailed parts. but for now I tried to keep the model simple but looking good and with detail.

Not to derail this train or anything ( I love the idea) but there is a patriot system available already from another mfg..... not sure on the quality of the kit though.

I found a pic on redricks website, but you can't really see the details.

The model looks great. Sign me up for a battery when they are ready. The other manufacturers' (there are two) models are not good, and would look poor next to a GHQ army.

I got the rest of the part from the RP people this morning the only other parts of the model I now need to make in 3D format for them to make up are the wheels for the main body, and the attenna and the elevator rods for adjusting the hight.

one thing is my model kit when finished will be a multi part model.. like some of the GHQ ship models that have many parts.

but have the model split up into seperate parts allows more detail.

anyhow here is a quick image I took of the parts that arived this morning.

Here is what my model looks like put together
When gluing the part together the leg part dropped on the cement floor and the one leg broke off. But the cast parts should be stronger. I am going to have a new prototype and the molds done up soon so I can mass make the parts.
Let me know what you think of the quick screenshots. I did a really quick black undercoat and brushed some GHQ UK Desert it’s not a nice paint job I applied the paint to help bring out and show the detail.

The complete 285 scale model will be 10 parts total.

I was just thinking about this one myself.

VonTed: might be the Scotia Micro one...the packs I got from Simtac didn't have legs :? and the prime movers and generator truck were all M809 series 5-tons that looked like they were left on a hot stove or something (they looked...height challenged). The radar unit wasn't too bad, the ribbed containerized rounds were passable (nowhere near the detail on this prototype though)

GHQ, if you make this in metal for us, I've got a card number for ya :D

Seems like this one is gone. With work started a long time ago and no posts from the designer in quite a while we may be looking at a dead product....
