It may be time for GHQ to weigh in here on this topic. It seems that our new release list is viewed as something much more personal to some than it actually is. To put it into perspective, GHQ has thousands of regular customers, and we receive thousands of requests every year. We usually release 6-7 items every two months. Do the math...we can't make all of those. That doesn't mean that we don't value all of our customers, and value all of the suggestions that we receive. In fact, almost all of the releases that we make originate from customer requests. With that in mind, please don't take it personally, or "ignored" when a suggestion is submitted and it doesn't make the new release list. First, and foremost, we have one main agenda here at GHQ- to make things that our customers want to buy. Ultimately all of you are the only ones who have a vote. If you don't like what is released, then you won't buy it.
Is anyone familiar with the Baseball Hall of Fame, and the election process? To some degree we go through the same thing. There are great players who don't get a high percentage of the votes when they are first elgible. Gradually over the years various people campaign for them, and the vote totals often go up, year by year, and sometimes they make it in. Some of those great players never seem to get quite enough to make it in.
We will let a cat out of the bag on this years's list- the Matilda I made it. It made it because it has been suggested for a number of years, and gradually, year by year, it got more support. It has abolutely nothing to do with anyone threatening to drop out of the hobby if the model wasn't made. It had everything to do with being repeatedly suggested, and gaining support from our customers over time. This hobby is supposed to be enjoyable, if you don't think that it is, then maybe it's not for you. Even though GHQ produces the largest line of military vehicles in any scale, we know that we don't make everything, and we don't aoplogize for that. Every year we add to that large number of vehicles. Sometimes your suggestions will be covered, other times they won't, but please remember that there are thousands of other people out there who have also submitted suggestions.
This post isn't meant to ruffle any feathers, it is just meant to put some perspective on to the new release list. If you see some models on any of our new release lists that you aren't excited about, that's unfortunate, but please remember that there are a lot of other people who are excited about those models...that's why they are on the list.
Thank you for your support,
GHQ

The Matilda I made it. In a way I am disappointed: Though I did vote for it, the passion that has grown up around this little toy tank has almost made me wish I hadn't. I was so looking forward to seeing grown men stomp their feet and figuratively say: "Screw you guys" and throw away their hobby. That would have been cool to see....

GHQ Release Schedule 2009 - 2010
Alright - the Matilda I has finally made the list. Actually I am happy for those that voted for this one. Now it will finally see production. While I was not really that interested personally, I know that several of you out there really wanted this little beast and I may even get a pack or two sometime in the future. Sometimes you do get what you wish for.
To GHQ - I don't take it personally when my wishes don't all come true. To clarify, I put the word "ignored" in parenthesis not because GHQ actually ignores my particular requests. I know there is a selection process that goes on and my sentence was meant as a little tongue in cheek. As I stated, there are many things that I have requested that have seen the light of day. Specifically, I now have the Feisler Storch, AEC ACV Dorchester, and the M4A1 Sherman. These will get painted up in due time and I have lots of other vehicles and troops to paint. I am looking forward to seeing the new list.
This is a great hobby we have and GHQ continues to provide the means for hours of enjoyment for me and my friends that enjoy these little tanks. Thanks.
Pete - Binpicker, Out!

Shame on you, GHQ, for letting the cat out of the bag. I was looking forward to another month of acrimonious debate about the Matilda I. Now we will have to find another neglected weapon/vehicle to promote/defame.
On the other hand, thank you for producing this figure. Although my current purchases are all in the Micronauts range, when I get back to land warfare I intend to concentrate on the early stages of WWI. Matilda I is really helpful for this. How about figures for Spanish Civil War, Finnish Winter War, Austria, Czechoslovakia, or Belgium?

Uh, Donald...you might want to edit that just a wee bit...Donald M. Granted, the ugly little brute LOOKs like it was built during WW1, but...

I'm glad the guys that have been waiting for this thing for 20 years will finally get it.
I've been collecting "Micro" for about 40 years now, and the Matilda 1 isn't even on my "top 50" list; in case GHQ or anyone else miss-understood me. To each, his own...
I guess these days, most of my wants are humble trucks, guns, and the like sort of thing.
I can't imagine blowing away all those years of "work" just over the lack of any one, or even a dozen items I'll probably never see GHQ produce. OTOH, if you throw in deteriorating vision, some arthritis in the fingers, & just plain cussedness; who knows?
As for next years list; I'm still anxious to see what's on it- less for exactly what, but for how many actual WW2 "ground" items there will be, as opposed to other releases.
There were about a dozen such releases last year, including as 3 items the Nachtjaeger set; if I recall.
For now, after waiting patiently for a year, I'll just think "positive thoughts" about those new Hungarian foot-sloggers, which GHQ's kind reminder indicates should be due out today. Now, about that "guelash-kanone"...

I suppose I should chime in here with all the subtle and not so subtle jabs...
First off, I truly enjoy GHQ as a company and I love their miniatures! They have always been a great company to deal with. GHQ has always dealt with me in a manner that shows why they are, in my opinion, without equal. Their miniatures have never ceased to amaze me and gamers/collectors everywhere with their attention to detail and quality of casting. As well, they continue to strive to fill all the holes in their lines which with all the periods and eras, is a big job!
Having said that, it was not for a lack of any particular model or variant that I have decided to move into a different scale. The reason rests primarily with me and my personal choice to paint something larger.
I plan on keeping my website going for the foreseeable future and I will continue to read the forum and help out where I can in the area of painting and techniques as this has always been my first stop online with my morning coffee!
Still a gamer, painter and appreciator of GHQs fine products,
Troy

I find myself in this camp too. I'm fairly indifferent about the release of the Matilda, but at this point I really didn't want to see GHQ make it. Maybe I am this way from dealing with kids, but if any of my kids stomped around, made snippy comments, and were bold/egotistical enough to think that it would be a good idea to threaten to give up doing something that they enjoyed doing if they didn't get there way, I would tell them to go to their room. All of this, and the postings about on again, off again wanting to sell off collections, seems like a plea to make others say "Oh, please don't." We all benefit from having as many people as possible in this hobby, but sometimes I think that it is important to hold up the mirror and show people how they are acting. As someone who runs a small business, I think that sometimes people don't realize just how difficult things can be. My guess is that many things on the new list won't be exactly what I want, but in these economic times I am happy to have one of the companies that I follow be able to keep their heads above water. Good luck GHQ, I am anxiously waiting to see the new list like everyone else.red3scout wrote:The Matilda I made it. "...schadenfreude is shining through..."
Perhaps. However, I suppose I could be chiming in bitterly on other unrelated posts to express my disappointment at not having that F/A-18 i've always wanted and snickering at other peoples excitement about a subject that does not interest me and blame that subject for my lack of F/A-18. Meh...let it shine...

This is just a reminder of what was released in the last 3 years. It's impressive the amount of stuff produced. I think that at the current rate of production, the only sorry guys should be the ones who play Naval Napoleonic

Some will love this list, some won't. However you feel about it, please keep in mind that every year the list takes several months to put together. Customer e-mails, phone calls, letters, this forum, and conversations at conventions all give us thousands of suggestions to consider every year. We really value what our customers would like to see us release, and we appreciate all of these. We also have our own ideas about new models, and lines to introduce. In addition, we have one of the most exciting announcements that we have ever made.
As military historians, all of you have pondered many “what if?†scenarios. WWII is absolutely full of these. Until now it has been impossible to actually game any of these scenarios because no models of the German post-1945 equipment existed in any scale. In one of our most exciting announcements in years, GHQ would like to introduce our new Wermacht ’47® line of Micro Armour®. This line has been developed from many historical sources and will allow you to model and game many of the land and air scenarios that have been floating through your heads over the years. In addition, we will be putting a FREE Wermacht ’47® supplement to our WWII rules on our website this winter, and release the first releases to this exciting new line at the same time.
