No, please don't!
I have Memorial Day weekend set off in my calendar (with weekend of May 31/June 01 as an alternate) to revise all my want lists with respect to the 2009-2010 releases. To do this, I have to put in extra work for the next three weeks to get ahead. Any information divulged before that will throw off my whole schedule.

New models

Post by chrisswim »

One could go broke buying all the new stuff, even if you bought only modern in proper quantities, spend a tidy sum.

Who else has produced, much less a quality model of the following modern?: Fennek, Panzerhaubiltz 2000, Marder 1A3, all the Chinese figures, too numerous to list, Cougar 4x4, & 6x6, M1114, Hummv AOA, buffalo, all the infantry packs, VAB ATGM, VBL, ... it is quite bit.

So what one or two items are you most appreciative the GHQ produce (okay, list three if you wish)?

I am very glad to have seen (and consequently to have bought) the following two items:

- Romanians
I am having a lot of fun completing my Romanian infantry. Oy! the quality of the figures, the scuplts and the casting, is just amazing. (I actually snuck two items under the heading of one, as I have both the Individual Infantry and the Individual Heavy Weapons. Shhhh, don't tell Chrisswim!) I was one of the voices lobbying for Romanian forces.

- Early Sherman M4A1
Next on my list to paint up. I think the models are beautiful. I can't wait to finish them up and get them onto a battleboard. Imagine rolling a company (or a battalion) of Shermans out in a time and theater where it was one of the biggest, baddest, and yet fastest tanks around! I was one of the voices lobbying for early Shermans.

And here is another that I am very glad to have seen, but have not yet bought:

- Italian 75mm Field Gun
As soon as I get my Romanians whipped into shape, and get my US Army in Tunisia upgraded, then it will be time to come back to my Italians again. Prior to these coming out I thought I was done building my Italian force. But you can bet I'll bring in some 75mm guns. While I'm on the subject of my Italians I am also thinking of doing some Celere units -- maybe some Bersaglieri infantry and motorcycles to carry them. I'm thinking I might use the German motorcycles ... the MG's mounted on the side-cars just need a small ammo strip added to the left side to look like Bredas (would be tougher to use them as Soviets -- as I can't figure out how to cut a small round item to simulate the ammo pan of the Degtyarev). I can run a file down each side of the helmet rims to take off some of the "German" look, and am trying to figure out what I can find to add to the helmet sides to simulate the Bersaglieri's cockerals.

So here we can see how a new Italian item may drive me to buy a couple other Italian items too.

Mark1,

The DP ammo drum is easily made by getting yourself a thin roll of micro-solder (sold in electonics places), cut a very small section of 1-2mm. Place upright and squish slightly to round out in a pair of flat-jawed needle-nosed pliars and you have a good impression of the DP drum.

Ordered

Post by ACWBill »

I placed an order today for all the new WWII stuff, the Aurora and the Pennsylvania (WWI Varieies). I am really looking forward to seeing the US Light AT weapons. If they are what I think, I will paint some of them up for North Africa and some as Marines. Grapeshot.....awesome. The HS 123 is one of my favorite aircraft. Troy, I hope you will continue to paint and show micro-armor on your site. It has been a true inspiration to see over the last few years. Hell, at least paint up a few Matilda I s before you sell off all your stuff.

Cama I took your comment about selling your collection as a joke, which I'm sure you meant it to be. You will have to post some of the Matilda I when you get them painted.

Ditto. Just a (supposedly) humorous way of expressing frustration.
I'd have taken it the same if you'd threatened sepuku over lack of a Honi 1...

Oh! Lordy! All this talk of selling collections! I cannot imagine it ... I am about 2/3 of the way through a small mountain of GHQ pewter, still with units to buy for ... just hoping for gaps to be filled.

I got my wishes for JU52, Go242, Fi156, Dorchester ACV fulfilled ... just hoping for a DC3, Austin K2 ambulance, Morris C4 radio vehicle, Matilda Scorpion flail ... but the Bailey bridge would be way cool - photo etch?

I am beginning to think about doing something in a larger scale ... 18th Century (Seven Years War) in 28mm ... just for the formality, variety and colour ... and probably with a very early ruleset, Lawford and Young's Charge! Or how to play wargames ... anyone else remember these?

Matilda?

Post by Mikee »

Speaking as a micronauts enthusiast only - why do you want a tank named after your mother-in-law :-)?

I am sorry to have started something here, I should have seen that coming, and kind of expected this. My initial post on this was not aimed at any one person, I think that there are several people who it could be applied to. However, I do read this pretty regularly, and wasn't Cama the person who listed his collection for sale just a couple months ago. That is probably the big reason why I missed the joke in there. Maybe it is my bad sense of humor. Cama, if that wasn't you that listed your collection as being for sale, then I whole-heartedly apologize for missing the joke. I may be sensitive to this kind of thing because I run a business, and I know that there are a lot of things in the business world that may not be as easy as they seem. Very few situations will allow for unanimous approval. I will now sit back, and excitedly wait for the new list to come out.

If I understand well, the question now could be : why painting micro armour ?

Hmmm a question for ... philosophers...and/ or for some others guys called psychiatrists , psychologists or something else ? ('')

Now that the Matilda I has been approved, it is time to start a similar campaign for US Winter Infantry in great coats...

I just hope the approval process isn't as lengthy.

Sorry to look at it from a dull old business perspective but do we know how many packs it takes for GHQ to start making a profit on it and how long the average design process for a pack is? I know GHQ isn't solely driven by money in its selections but I can't help feeling that if a pack has indications of interest way over that needed to break even it would help an argument.

Alternatively, you could just drive a tank (which I'm sure some of you have in your back yards) up to the front door and ask politely.....

Did the Italians have a 60mm Brandt mortar?
As far as I can tell, the only mortars the Italian infantry used were the "81" ; and the 45mm "Brescia" which is in the inf.weapons pack.
Unless there is an Italian mortar I've managed to miss, I'd guess we already have their 81mm then; & anyone elses the crew will pass for...

I could add lots to the list, but for now-
late "30's/ 1940" ford trucks- several users
Italian Fiat/ Polski Fiat trucks- also...
horse-drawn equipment- everybody on "the continent", + Japan
