Are the new infantry packs for moderns or for WW2? If they are for moderns, then what period? This is all a bit vague.

Given the stock numbers of the new infantry packs, all but the Chinese are WWII.

2009 - 2010 Release Schedule

Post by pmskaar »

There is something for everyone here I hope. I am happy that the new WWII infantry is coming - in 3 varieties no less. My sincere hope is that these are well researched and a great deal of thought goes into the poses and weapons. I'm still looking for some honest medium mortars. I hope the Brits get the corrected 2 inch mortar as well. Three man crews for the medium and heavy mortars with kneeling or standing crews are in order as well. I don't want to see prone guys trying to load these things - as in the "81mm" mortar in the new German weapons pack. Are you listening GHQ?

I want to see Maxim MG's for the Russians with 2 man crews. I want a Russian ATR and I really would like to see a mixture of troops in new poses with rifles. Headgear could be a mixture of steel helmets and pilotkas but I would argue do all the poses with both types of headgear or do 2 packs with each type of headgear represented. Americans should be handled similarly with a 30 cal with 2 man crew and maybe a water cooled Browning as well. Please make sure the loader is on the correct side of the MG.

I had one item that I specifically asked for - the Pz IVG. I am very excited that this one is coming and it does fill in a gap that GHQ had for German mid war stuff. My request to GHQ is to do this version from the ground up - not to just take the existing Panzer IVF and add a double baffle muzzel brake. The current crop of GHQ Pz IV models are starting to show their age and while still okay, are not up to the current standards I have come to expect.

I am interested in the T-44 and T-72 for the Russians but not sure why a new model of the T-72 is being done. I want to know what is being changed or if it was just time to bring this one up to the latest standard - see my comments above.

I am also looking forward to the new 76mm Sherman and will get some of these. It is my fervent wish that GHQ do the early M4A3 for Normandy as well as a later M4A1 for the same period.

There are some other things I will probably pick up as well but I have plenty to do for right now. Thanks GHQ.

I can only imagine how nice 15mm GHQ would be :D FOW would have to change their rules to only use BF miniatures to prevent themselves going out of business!

Finally! GHQ got the hint, modern 1/2400 are back on the list:

HRN 6 Type 45 DDG - This is going to be perfect I can't wait to buy 3 or 4.

HRN 7 Fearless LPD - Okay I already have two from another manufacturer but I'll buy one to compare if nothing else.

HUS 17 Freedom LCS - I would have rather seen a Flight II Burke get done first but this is cool too.

HRC 1 Luyang II DDG - Finally branching out to the other rising navies. Very excited about this choice.

Oh, wait these are from the "War-at-Sea - '10" line. That alternate history where GHQ explores the "what-if" we really wanted to have 'the best damn wargaming products' question." Guess I'll go back to sleep and see how that dream turns out.

av8rmongo,

Excellent news! But you didn't even mention HUS-18 (LPD-17 San Antonio) or HUS-19 (LSD-41 Whidbey Island!

I am disappointed too, but they just must not sell well enough. I have been forced to go the 1/1250 route at 10x the cost.

New releases for 2009/2010

Post by stenna00 »

I think it is really great that GHQ releases new models all the time. As far as the new releases go, I will certainly be purchasing the PzIVG and the new M4A3 Sherman, and possibly the Matlida I. I would purchase the Geschutzenwagen Tiger fur 17cm K72 except for that fact that there was only one prototype built before the end of the war and they were never used in action, so this seems like a curious release to me. I would much rather have seen a PzIIIM with sideskirts as I know GHQ's version would be much better than any other makers' version. But all in all, my thanks to GHQ for the new releases. :D

Couple questions, are the chinese infantry using the type 56s (ak-47 knockoffs) or the QBZ series weapons? If its QBZs then I'm excited but if its the 56s that seems a bit unnecessary since the same appearance could be gained with Warsaw Pact infantry.

Secondly, what prompted the redesign of the T-72s?

Thanks.
Its a sniper rifle, not a "sniper"! You don't call an assault rifle an "assault"!

Hi,

I never saw a reason to register in this forum, as I pretty much felt represented by the people in this forum already - until the new GHQ release list.

First of all the excuses, etc. etc.: I love this scale, I love this company and I don't play with thoughts to give up my hobby nor will I sell my 6mm miniatures.

BUT I am highly disappointed with the new release list.
What is really new? The Matilda I and the french tanks.
Then we have a new Sherman version and a new Panzer IV version. You can argue if this was really necessary - I would rather have seen new models or at least new versions which can be recognized from a distance.
Then the second infantry packs. Well, nice - finally. But this is an extra for the 6mm-WWII-community, not a "new" release, as GHQ will use the german poses and add some different (hopefully correct) weapons.
And the B-25 Bomber? Unfortunately that is an aircraft model which another company already produces - and their aircraft are quite ok.

The 2008/2009 season was great - I know about the neverending Matilda I discussion, but although this tank wasn't on that list, there was the 15cm on Lorraine, the Hs123, the Mosquito, the Dorchester, the 75mm Cannone, the I-153, the Storch - these are seven new models alone (and I bought them all) + Pak43 and a lot of infantry packs.

Please guys at GHQ: I know you can't fulfil all wishes, but don't leave the field to manufacturers like Battlefront. You have to support your 6mm-WWII community, so they will support you. Many people are fed up of scratchbuilding.

There are many fantastic ideas in the forum, like the Churchill accessories - you just have to do them.

There was also the idea of a club system, like GMT games and Eureka are offering, in this forum. I would happily subscribe for something like that.

Maybe my fault is, not to play/collect miconauts, 10mm and the fantasy WH'47, maybe then I would be pleased with that list.

Sorry guys - but this will be a very moneysaving season 2009/2010 for me.

Cheers

Johannes

10mm ACW good news

Post by Regulars »

The refreshing of the ACW line is spot on. I'm planning on doing the Calvary fights around the Gettysburg campaign starting at Brandy Station 8 June and ending at Lott's farm 3 July. Couldn't do it before now.
Now when do they go on sale???

Break...Not a new sculpt request, but, can we get horse holders in a seperate pack from the Lincoln meeting with the Army Commanding General??? ( I have no use for 12 N scale Lincoln's)

Cheers :D

I have to agree with Johannes. I love GHQ products and I'm sure they have a difficult time trying to make everyone happy but I can't help but feel that WWII 1/285th products got a big goose egg this year on the release list - just my personal opinion.

I know that GHQ is a business with limited resources and they can't do everything at once - so I'm certainly not upset in anyway (this is after all a "fun" hobby). It's just that I'm anxious to spend my money with GHQ this year and there isn't much on the list for me to do that with (I will buy the Pz IV G though :D ).
