Battle Boxes

Post by pmskaar »

Perhaps an infantry Battle Box would be in order. The Battle Box would include enough infantry for a company sized battle group for each side with some additional support assets such as some mortars and medium/heavy MG's. Also include some a couple tanks or assault guns or even AT guns for a small combined arms battle. I don't think this would cost any more than a standard combat command but would still have both sides with some combined arms capability.

Combat command ideas

Post by pibber »

Hi all :D

My suggestions, for example :

# Panzer grenadier company 1944-45 :

13 x Sdkfz 251 D/1 halftracks
2 x Sdkfz 251 D/2 halftracks
2 x Sdkfz 251 D/3 halftracks (not yet create by GHQ)
2 x Sdkfz 251 D/9 halftracks
4 x Sdkfz 251 D/17 halftracks (not yet create by GHQ)
1 x Kubelwagen
1 x Kettenkrad
2 x Motorcycles w/ sidecars

# Vietnam US armored ground Forces 1967-69 :

7 x M113 ACAV
3 x M48A3 or M551 Sheridan
1 x M577 command post
2 x M113
1 x Ford Mutt
1 x M35 truck
1 x M106A1 (M113 with Hv mortar)

# Late war german kampfgruppe 1944-45 :

Panther, Opel Blitz radio van, PzIV"H", kubel, kettenkrafrad, SPW 251/1, 8t Flak 37 or
Wirbelwind, Jadgpanzer.

# Four combat command with only many pewter building :

One for russian, One for european, One for vietnamese, One for middle east
to constitute small villages :
Packs could contain few building different (but without church or mosque, wich could be buy separatly).

We can imagine too, a special forces camp combat command for vietnam aera : with
one barrack, on watch tower, two conex container, sandbag walls, guard huts, soilbin wall with steel revetment, ....

I would like to see a:

Modern British Chinook HC3 Combat command.

1x HC3 Chinook.
3x MOD Staff cars.
1x Icecream Van.
48x Individuel procurement team.
Includes a hard plastic storage box that could be used as a climate controlled storage hangar.

The Chinook could be based on the first GHQ model.
Not sure on the staff cars since you have to cover 1995-2010?
The Icecream van would nice if it came with decals for "Mr Whipy" 99 flake etc.
The procurement team would be from a new infantry pack (60 pc).
This would include avionic software types (holding heads), risk control (w/clipboards) risk control (pointing), managers (plump/ in teams of 4), PR types (w/ponytails).

I think the procurement team would be a great seller as it could be used buy many countries for lots of projects.
2 or 3 could be used together for Airbus or tanker contracts.
Maybe later we could add procurement heavy weapons with golf bags/carts, BMW and a small villa in the Med!

OK so you only get 1 Chinook for $39.95 but that works out about right for a CH47D/H at $9.95.
Orders taken before the end of 2009 should be shipped 2013-17.

Afghan National Army.

1x T55.
2x Humvee.
3x Individual Modern US Infantry in action poses.
180x Mujahadin Individual Infantry.

Only new mold would be the Humvee (hood open, on blocks missing one wheel).

OK no more self ban......

Insurgent Combat Command

Civilian clothed infantry with AKs and other small arms
A good suicide bomber figure
RPG Teams
Katushia and Mortar teams
IED emplacement teams (engineers, digging planting bombs)

Civilians

Civilian Trucks and cars for use as technicals and carbombs.

Middle Eastern Buildings to hide in.

Police officers/ cars and trucks for adversaries.

Can't remember if I mentioned this, or not. A Cold War Soviet VDV (Air Assault) CC would be handy as well. Some Russian infantry, Hip transport and Hind gunship support. 8)

erm, a suicide bomber figure should look like the general public... that's the idea. But I do agree that a civilian mix of figures might be nice given the current state of warfare on the planet.
I like the idea of an infantry combat command; maybe a WW1 group or set of groups? Maybe just a full infantry company that is properly organised? 1 pack of infantry holds 50 to 60 figures, but a CC with a full company with NO wasted figures, I'd buy that! CC's for all periods and all nationalities in that case... and they could already come close by picking and choosing the castings they already make.
I think the German recon CC needs review as the mix of vehicles is in NO WAY historical.
I also think that CC's are a good starter pack for a new line, so maybe some 1946 CC's would help (not that I'm interested), but any eventual WW1 figures would do well with a CC pack to cover the actual organisation (or at least produce accurate half companies in a standard pack of infantry).
Generally I find the standard idea of CC's pretty good; there are occasional mistakes, but generally they work fine as is.

I'd love to see a WWII US Infantry Combat Command - a rifle company with an attached HMG platoon (from the battalion weapons company). That would be ~230 figures, which would be ~4 GHQ infantry packs (plus a jeep pack), about right in price. The selling point would be that the correct weapons mix and comm equipment (with some SCR 300's, PLEASE!) would be included.

I'd buy several of those in a heartbeat. Buy three, toss the extra HMQ platoon and pick up a mortar platoon and you've got the lion's share of a battalion. (Or at 1:3, with a couple of 105mm Howitzers and trucks thrown in, a regiment.)

A slight variant might have one or two 57mm AT gun & crew along with a pair of 81mm mortars, the idea being to have the CC pack contain exactly 1/3 of an infantry battalion, possibly with an attached AT platoon from Regiment along with the Battalion Section of the Service Company Transport Platoon and the Battalion Section of the medical company. This would be a bigger pack with a lot more vehicles, and might be too expensive to mesh with the current line.
Asking GHQ to properly identify USN10 as "DD Gridley Class" since 1/7/2010

On a similar note supplement the Ice Cream van with an Italian Field Kitchen? :)

North Africa has a lot of gaping holes to fill for Combat Commands, for all participants.

UK 1942
40 Infantrymen
6x Grant
3x Stuart Honey
3x Crusader mkIII
2x 6pdr AT guns
2x CMP 15cwt
2x Vickers MG's
2x Mortars
2x SAS Jeeps
1x LRDG Chevy

UK Alamein to Tunisia
40 Infantrymen
6x Sherman II (M4A1's)
4x Crusader mkIII
2x Churchill MkIII
2x 6pdr AT guns
2x CMP 15cwt
2x Vickers MG's
2x Mortars
3x AEC MkII's

I'm not as well versed in TO&E for Axis forces, but there are some good areas of potential for the DAK. But here's an attempt at a 1942 idea.

Afrika Korps 1942
50 x Individual Infantrymen
2x Sdkfz 250/1
1x Sdkfz 7
1 x 88mm Guns
2 x Machine Gun Teams
3 x Pz Kpfw IIIFs
3 x Pz Kpfw IVF1s
2x Marder III 7.62(r)
1x Stug IIIF
2 x Mortar Teams
2 x Sdkfz 231 Armored Cars

Not sure what to do for Tunisia 1943.
