In a different thread, or a different website, regarding scenery making, I read that the Terrain Maker hexes aren't asymmetrical. That when you try and lay them out, you'll end up with sizable gaps at some of the joints. How noticeable is it? Is it fixable?
Thanks.

I think you mean either "they are not symmetrical" or "they are asymmetrical". Saying they aren't asymmetrical suggests that they are in fact symmetrical.

Which they are not, sadly.
There are two ways to deal with this in my experience. One is to make a jig which you feed all your hexes through and pare them down to a perfect hexagon. The other method, the one I use, is to paint the edges a nice deep brown (I do eastern front non-winter) and underlay the map with a similar color. It's not perfect, but it delivers a very nice result.

You're right, and I stand corrected. I can feel the ruler across my knuckles! As to the hexes, well, that's a bummer. I liked the idea of using them, but I may be too fussy about it. Have to give scenery more thought.
Thanks.

Found some info on another hex system, out of the UK, made of plastic (not sure I can name other mfrs here). They come in sections of 6 hexes, and can be clipped together. Also found info on hex mats, which I'll explore.
Terrain is still a ways down the road, anyway. Need to figure out my Flames Of War units, so I can start purchasing the models for them.

mac,
Thanks for the link. I gave it a quick look (will look at it all later on), but it definitely will be helpful.
As for the other product, I've exchanges a couple of emails with a UK gamer who has some. He really likes it a lot, for it's stability. What he's done, however, is use TM on top of it. He hasn't any pics of it, but said he will try and take some and send them, and tell me more as to how he uses the TM hexes.
The other product is pricey, but a email from the mfr indicates that they will work with US buyers to lower the cost if ordered.
Since job situation has changed, I won't be making any major (and few minor) purchases for a while. When I can, I'll get some TM hexes and start with that.
