Question about US83 the compressor and breakdown trucks. Can anyone tell me how many parts are involved with the breakdown truck? I only need 1 compressor truck and about 6 or so breakdown tucks, and the pack content are very unfriendly for my needs. If I was to buy them separately, how much am I up for?

Can anyone give me a listing (even approximate) of the figures in the old WW2 British Individual Infantry kits?
In particular I'm interested in the Sikh infantry, but I am told that the desert w/pot helmets, turbans, and digger hats all have the same poses, just different heads. Is that so? And what poses are they?
I'm thinking of using them for WW2 French Algerian / Morroccan troops. Specifically as dismounted Spahis. Already have some cossack cavalry I'm going to do for the mounted versions. Will take a bit of work, but should be passable. Now I just need something to kit-bash into the dismounted troopers.
Thanks in advance.

Thought this thread could use a revive what with people asking the contents of the new SubSaharan Infantry pack which I just got in the mail. Contents are as follows:
9x prone AK-47 or other AK variant
18x standing M-16
8x prone PKM (I think. Could be an RPD but definitely not the RPK as seen in the Warsaw Pack kit)
8x PKM standing with barrel pointed in the air (celebratory fire? anti-air pop shots?)
4x AK-47 kneeling and pointing (leader)
18x standing AK-47 or other AK variant
9x RPG gunner
If my math is right that comes out to 74 figures.
The figures are molded with minimal gear with the exception of the PKM gunners who are wearing ammo bandoleers "pancho villa" style. Clothing appears to be traditional or casual arab dress. All figures appear to be molded with a headdress that covers the face. The head covering is minimalist enough that with the right paint job it could pass off as a balaklava for your more Hizbollah/Hamas type of terrorists, although I believe it's intended as a Shemagh headdress for your more typical arab insurgents.
Thoughts:
Pros:
- Good choice of model style, answering what many were asking for as a COIN operations adversary force.
- Enjoy the addition of a new weapon to the GHQ model lineup that I haven't seen on any other infantry (PKM)
- Well modeled and detailed, as always.
Cons:
- Missing the unarmed/suicide vest insurgent many were asking for.
- Missing common insurgency weapons such as RPK, SVD, Mortar
(hopefully both the suicide bomber and lack of weapon selection will be rectified in a "heavy weapons" pack)
- M16s?? Why??
All in all I'm glad I got this kit. If you're trying to do a modern US, UK or whoever vs insurgents and the combat does not take place somewhere between Afghanistan and Pakistan, then this kit is for you.
I'll try to post pics if I can find my bloody camera.

Its a sniper rifle, not a "sniper"! You don't call an assault rifle an "assault"!

I know captured western weapons and CQ/S-556 models are used even by Iraqi insurgents, but they are far less common and much harder to come by than the AK or other cheap insurgency weapons. I feel they shouldn't be equal in number to AK-47s in this kit.

Correction to my first report. There are actually about half as many M16 carrying as I thought, which is a much more reasonable representation in my opinion.

Think of the Horn of Africa
Well, for me the answer to the question of calling them Sub-Saharaian Irregulars is to think of the Horn of Africa. Then think of the nations of Somalia, Ethiopia, etc. Then think of Blackhawk Down and Durfar. From there I believe the picture becomes quite clear on this issue.

Excellent news, I know what I'll be getting myself for Christmas.
We may finally have something to game the middle eastern wars of the last 35 years. Now I'll need to also get a ton of the new US and Israeli vehicles for them to fight.
Well I think the naming is a matter of adjusting fire after the troops originally called irregulars were judged to make great candidates for NATO troops.

They COULD be with the right paint job and possibly some filing.Hauptmann6 wrote:Could they be FALs instead of M16s? Those would be VERY common in Africa
