Would have been used in North Africa in 1940-41 and possibly 1942. Not sure if it was used in the Fall of France 1940.

2pdr portees were used by most British armoured divisions in North Africa from Sept 1941 to July 1942 usually as part of mot inf btn and were organised into batteries of 3 troops of 4 guns (up to 3 batteries). They were used by 6th Armd div/10th btn rifle brigade motor btn until May 1943. Most were replaced by 6pdrs by Aug 1942. Hope this helps.
