Third World Irregular Infantry

Post by pvt64 »

To my mind these mean figures in shirts, pants kafiyahs, bearheaded, w/ sneakers etc. The Mujahadden are fine for Afghanistan, but wjat about the reast of the Mid East?

There is really only one way to address this situation: you are correct, these are not irregular infantry. We made a mistake. Occasionally things slip through, and when you look back, you don't have an explanation for how things came to be and you just have to admit that you made a mistake. TW-12 and TW-13 are what we would call 3rd World Regulars that can be used to represent a huge number of different forces all over the world. We do feel that these are very important infantry that fill a niche, and they are something that we had planned to release in the near future.

Irregular infantry are what we had in mind when these packs were planned, and when we listed them in our catalog. Unfortunately some wires got crossed in the discussions with the designer who worked on these. Multiple third world infantry ranges were discussed, and the irregulars were supposed to come for the April 30th releases. These came instead. The people working in production either are not military people, or knew that the regulars were coming in the near future, and didn't mention anything. The person who did the painting painted what he got, etc. Regrettably it is too late for the irregulars until the August releases (when the Regulars were supposed to be released), but that is when they will be out. They will be sub-Saharan irregulars.

The listing in our upcoming catalog has already been changed to correct this error, and our website listing has been changed as well. As previously mentioned, the current TW-12 and TW-13 fill an essential niche. Many countries around the world from the Cold War era to the present wear US WWII style helmets and use a mixture of European/Russian weapons. That is the niche that we have filled with these figures.

We are sorry for the confusion.

Thank you for your support,
GHQ

Irregular Infantry

Post by groundlber »

Thanks for the explanation. As a dinosaur who actually used to make things for a living, I understand the perils of the production process. My favorite was a work order that specified a depth of " about 8 and 1/2 inches". None of my measuring tools had a marking for 'about'.
Anyway, the next time something like this happens (and there will be a next time) a
little advance warning should sooth your customers and fans.

Thanks for the honest explanation. It is rare these days to see a company that has the integrity to admit mistakes without spin and general BS. This is why you have so many loyal customers.

So on to more fun subjects.

I'm glad you guys came clean on this, and I'm glad that there are still REAL irregulars in the pipeline.

These things happen... though I guess I should have known when my "What are..." post was never answered, even with a month to go.

Please try to keep you customers in the know.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response.

I appreciate the honest communication.

I'll be buying a pack or two of the new ones when they come out.

And that's why you're the best company, knowing how much the customers matter -- Listening to our wants and needs in the first place and willing to admit and fix mistakes aswell as keep us informed. It's your quality of service aswell as your quality in units which will keep me buying from you. :)

Looking forward to the real irregulars.

These "regular" third world units are absolutely vital too, they cover a whole host of important nations and the fact that you listened to peoples concerns about wanting these units aswell as the irregular ones in the past puts a smile on my face. There was a big void with infantry in your range and it's amazing you're listening to us and filling it! I will most certainly be buying some of these.
