Not so much problem as it might be. The model has the sidecar as a separate piece.
The bike is fully modelled for use without it.
My info says that 669 Alces were made with a sidecar.
Can you tell us how these were used?
Unfortunately, the photo I have shows the Italian sidecar mounted on the opposite side from the German,so you would need a new sidecar.
Those tricycles would also be nice to have, especially with the 65mm IG they sometimes towed...
MK1-
Sorry, still have no way to take/post pics of my unfinished Romanians or anything else.
Priorities and poor health this spring have kept me from getting much done.
Btw, "huzzah" to GHQ again; as they are now listing 5 trailers in the new Malaxa pack...

I can only give general information on the sidecars. As far as I know they were mainly used for transportation of officers or NCO's in the units where a car was not available or foreseen. They were not foreseen for fighting and were not armed.
Duting the war it ws developed the "Marte" model based on the German sidecars (btw with the sidecar on the right and traction on two wheels) and armed with a Breda LMG on the sidecar but ir remained a prototype,
The use of the "mototriciclo" to tow the 65/17 was foreseen for paratroops only. The performacIe of the vehicle where heavily reduced by the weight of the gun but it was the only towing vehicle available to them. The paras used it to tow also the 47/32.
You have to consider that the Alce had only 12HP (against 26HP of the BMW R75) and the mototricilo based on it had different gears to allow the transport/towing of weapons. It was quite slower than the normal motorcycle.
I am chevking for the motorcycle units attached to cavalry units in 1943 (Tunisia and Sicily). I think they were bersaglieri but I am not totally sure as they are usually indiecated simply as "motorcycle company" without further details.

Thanks for the information.
I have seen a few pictures of the tricycle towing 65mm guns (I also wondered about the 47mm) and did not know it was only used that way by paras.
Just for clarification, the previous post was not from MK1.
I caused that confusion by adding a note addressed to him in my post...

Kisutha, sorry for the confusion,
To complte the information, I have to make a correction. Airportable instead of paratroops. The refernce is the Spezia Division. It had 406 mototricicli on TO&E and got 392 of them when in Tunisisa.
The model was initially the Benelli 500 then replaced by the Moto guzzi 500 Trialce. It was possible to disassemble it in two parts increasing the air lift. For example the S.M. 82 could transport six Trialce but only two Benelli. Moreover it was possible to carry the Trialce on other planes: 4 on the S.M. 75 and 2 on the S.M 81 or the S.M. 83.
Note that also the Bersaglieri used the mototricilo to tow the 47/32 beside the transport of olter equipment or weapons.
About the sidecars I add that they were based on the military 500 motorcycles so thay coul be manufactured by Benelli, Bianchi, Gilera, Guzzi and Sertum

My name is Cav Dog and I am addicted to GHQ micro armor. Looking at my work bench I have around 60 vehicles basecoated waiting for details, highlights, decals and dull coat. I have another 150 that are primed. Plus another 20 blisters unopened. In addition to 500+infantry in various stages between ready for priming to ready for basing.
Yet another sale is upon us and I am getting ready to place an order...
Help me before I buy again...
Well, at least don't tell my wife!

My name is Carl. I too!! am addicted to GHO. I have collected since 1980 when I bought my first set of Shermans from the old Wargamers Digest Magazine. I waited anxiously for several weeks and then suddenly I go to the mail box and my order arrived in the dead of Winter here in sunny Cleveland Ohio. I was Like a kid waiting to open up his secret decoder ring from and ovaltine ad. At last I open the package and a bright shiny light emanates from the tank trap box that all the sherman were nestled in. Ah!!! I remember it like it was yesterday. I was hooked! Fast forward to 2010, I have since acumulated literally thousand of micro armor much unpainted ( but I'm working on in). I continue to order occasionally online but mostly at my local wargaming establishment here in Cleveland. Usually place orders through the store because of my old school tendency to go to a brick and mortar store and actually see the prodiuct I'm about to buy. Yes ol fashion I know. But yet again GHQ always put out new release after I make a major purchase at my store. Now I have to wait and save up until I can by the new stuff (sorry son you can't go to college, i need more little army men to line my coffin when I'm gone. Hopefully I will have them all painted by then. I'm 43- as old as GHQ - I find that destiny that I was born the year GHQ becaume established in the glorius year of 1967. Long live GHQ.
Sincerely,
Carl
severly addicted to this stuff

Carl67, good to buy your stuff at a store, that is probably how most of us got involved and started gaming, or war gaming with GHQ or 1/285. That is how I did. Went into a store a dozen times and saw the fantasy, etc. and walked out....having a micro armor game I was definitely interested, play the next week and hooked ever since.
So by buying from a store, the local merchant earns something for taking the risk of capital, and if they have game tables, they can show the product. Just got let the newbies win, so they want to buy a division, battalion, etc. Then show 'em how to play.

I wish we had the option of buying locally! Sadly, and despite our best efforts, here in Atlanta store after store has closed. The one north-side shop which carried GHQ closed its doors a few years ago. Mail order/online is now our only option for GHQ products.
Anyway, Irregular update: I spoke with GHQ and the odds of the irregulars being ready before the end of the sale are really, really low. So, it will definitely be WWII for me this sale!

Well I'm a drugged up cigarette toking, Marijuana smoking, booze hound with a Micro Armor problem.
As soon as I'm done moving out of rehab the 3rd World regulars are on the list for my West German NATO troops. Then My Nato Armies will be complete! Yah.
Since it will cost more to ship them than they cost I will probably fill out with some buildings and Napoleonic ships.

Tim, similar events here, A mulitple game site store sold out years ago, then they sold some of the stores off to individuals, and only one of those is open to my knowledge. A shop that opened 10 years ago and changed hands twice just closed few weeks ago.
So now to my knowledge there are two game shops open in Jax, Only one has any historical merchandise, mostly fantasy and comics. The other is entirely fantasy and PC gaming. Both are 'two' unit stores with one unit for gaming tables, show they can show the games.
So as much as things are the same, things change.

Up here in Cleveland I have been fortunate to live right near the only brick and mortar store that has been running since the mid 90's. It will be a sad day when and if it ever closes. As the owner would agree with my comment. Hobby stores are a dying breed. It takes a lot of effort and time to run the business and the return on your invesment is not what it use to be. He is a one man operation so if he decides to quit then another shop bites the dust and we all go into seclusion with our armies.
Granted the internet and technology has done wonders to increase and share the hobby. Heck! you could even set up to gaming tables city, state and counties apart and do a play by intenet system like the old play by mail days. However, there something to be said about showing up to a local store and meeting people face to face and puting on a random game that I just wish we could have more of but that doesn't seem to be the trend.

In spite of a "small backlog" of ships to paint and build, I ordered the following kits:
GWS10 ACR-10 USS Tennessee, a good looking armored cruiser
GEN20 CB Admiral Scheer, finally a new German (almost) capital ship
GEN17 BB Tirpitz 1944, should go well with my Bismarck and H-39
USN53 CV USS Ticonderoga, I can try that Measure 33 scheme from that famous "murderer's row" photograph of several carriers anchored next to each other at the Ulithi anchorage late in the war.
Time to start checking the old mailbox!
