GHQ on facebook?

Is there any interest in creating a group on facebook to further the hobby? Is there already one that I don't know about? thoughts?

I was keen on actually putting this topic up a while back and linking it with my other military interest hobby group.

Nonetheless, I am keen in actually setting up one where photoes and people get to gather there too.

i mean it wont divert the attention and discussions that make this forum special, but it definitely gets people connected.

If there is interest.. I could or anyone could setup I guess

You can set up a facebook page. GHQ MicroArmor if the company does not mind you using their name. But what would the benefit be that we do not have now? What advantage is there for having a page. Here GHQ can monitor and have volunteers monitor the discussions.

There are groups in/on Yahoo that may already address your goals. If not the question is what would you want it to be and how would it add value? If it is not specific and measurable then why go to another site.... oh, lets check GHQ, then Yahoo, then facebook, then... some other hobby site. If it is the same people. Hopefully that may help determine if there is a need and benefit.

I guess the benefit for putting it on facebook and mostly showcasing pictures and talking about surface level stuff of GHQ war gaming is to make the community that is establish here grow further. Main platform is to let ppl oogle at the epic models and pictures from the communal niche Wargaming that GHQ provides.

Furthermore, in my personal opinion, GHQ is the most dominant manufacturer and platform for Micro Modern Wargaming that is almost non-existent in the major league wargaming. This means GHQ has an edge and by putting it out to Facebook, You actually let people know about it.

Not many ppl know about GHQ Wargaming, and its largely unexposed. Unless there is a threat of doing that, I feel Facebook has the platform to provide that exposure.

I don't see how Yahoo groups and other forums can help, but like i said, the Facebook page for GHQ should direct REAL interested parties to this forum and this website to know more of what it is all about and to get into it.

I do get the concern and the questioning of benefits.. and of course, if there is no interest or no active broadcast from that FB GHQ page (if there is one), then like u said chris, it would just be like any other group.

I agree with exodus. With this page and the yahoo groups you have to know what youre looking for to find it. If you have never heard about GHQ or even 1/285th scale miniatures, you're not likely to stumble on to this page.

With facebook you are widening your audience to include people who might not ever hear about our hobby. I want to widen the audience to help GHQ expand their business. More customers might equal more new releases each year.

Just to reassert myself,
i feel in order for GHQ to grow, it needs to expand its customer based.
And what better marketing plan would it be to have customers spread the good word.

I really wouldn't mind setting up the facebook group for GHQ Wargaming and Miniatures.
Only question is, how do I get approval from GHQ? should I send them an email?

I put up a Facebook page for our club a while back. It hasn't really generated anything. I know for me I would rather come to the GHQ site (which I do almost every day) versus Facebook (which I go on once or twice a month).

I think there's a danger in not getting on Facebook. Many businesses have found Facebook a great asset and there are many hobbies that are taking over the net. GHQ gaming should be one of them. People get blown away by the photos. Most importantly, it might generate sales for GHQ which it otherwise wouldn't see. We need to support the company to keep things going. With Facebook having almost no costs for creating a group, I can't see a reason not to go with it. I've searched for GHQ a number of times. Somebody send the boys up top an e-mail and join the 21st century. It's where all the kids (the future gamers) are. No risk, no-cost advertising, possible great return...

Well guys,

I have got approval from GHQ and yes it is about the right time we move with the trends.

As such I have made a Facebook page dedicated to GHQ wargaming.
Pls take note though. This will not change anything about the forum and the involvement of so many hardcore gamers in this forum.

But facebook is a good viral media to spread the awesome wonders of GHQ wargaming.
Not many people know about it but I am very sure many are keen to find out.

As such, for those avid GHQ collectors and wargamers who have facebook. I really do encourage you to join the Facebook page. And Start posting up your pictures.

I will also get the page on the band wagon of the General Wargaming community to cultivate GHQ identity.

You know, it would be good to put some significance on the fact that GHQ modern warfare miniatures are outstanding, the detail is great and the range is just overwhelmingly big compared to even other major companies.

Thus, military enthusiast of all levels will most definitely be drawn into it.

Its good to post picture on your own side and ur own albums on facebook. But communal effort into contributing to the page will attract a new pool of customers.

More customers = More sales for ghq = More ranges of models that I can ask from them. Especially my modern naval ships..

Haha funny after thought though, I was planning to do it all along.
I am just amazed that I couldn't find anything on Facebook that had anything to do with GHQ.

Perhaps i wasn't looking in the right places. :p

Be sure to suggest to ur fellow wargamers or potential friends who might want to take a dive into GHQ wargaming.
