Scenario idea for Micronauts or Micro Armour

I was reading the book Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy today, and I realized the awesome potential. I reread the forward by Clancy, and he actually wrote the book around a wargaming idea. I thought this was pretty interesting, and decided to put the idea on the forums.
Land(Micro Armour):
Defense of Alfed, Germany.
NATO Air attack over the Elbe[?] river.
Defense of the Leine river, Germany.

Sea (Micronauts):
Convoy attack/defense.
General submarine warfare.
Air to Sea engagements.

That's about all I have. NATO forces would be of American, British, Belgian, and German nationalities. Warsaw Pact forces would be Russian mainly. Weapons systems would be late 80's, early 90's. If anyone want's to use this, feel free. This aren't my creations anyway. Thanks Tom Clancy!

Actually I read that Red Storm rising was writtien from a wargame. (At least the naval part.). The game was Harpoon a great game. His collaborator was Larry Bond who taught at the Naval War College.

They set up the scenarios and played them out. Whatever happened in the game was put in the book. The scene where the carrier got hit was actually a screw up in a wargame that played at the war college with Larry.

Great game system great scenarios. THe booked kicked off about 8 years of very detailed naval research.

Ah, "Red Storm Rising" one of my all time favourites.

There is quite a large write up over on the Modern Spearhead page of the "Defense of Alfeld" a NZ gaming group ran at a Con. Hugh game, and a really good AAR. Also, there is a running narrative WWIII campaign by one of the memebers over on the BKC/CWC forum, including a scenario "Holding the Leine". Again some smahing AARs and scenario ideas.

Red Storm Rising is a very good book and one that I quite enjoy reading from time to time. So far I think I've read it about 6 times since it's been out in paper back. I have often thought about basing some modern battles from the book but never got around too it...that and I sold all my moderns off too...well not all...still have my British Chieftains, FV432 and soviet troops. I plan on getting back into it, but what I had before was too modern for my liking...the '70's era is what I like.

And yes, Clancy wrote the book around a wargame, from what I understand the naval part was from Harpoon but not sure about the ground war. Either way, Red Storm Rising is an awesome book and if anybody asked me about what is a good war book to read...I would recommend it.

For wargaming ideas, a person could come up with quite a few from it as well.
