I'm still debating about them and still haven't because:
1. I'm just a little a OCD. I'd want the pole line to look right every time I laid out a new board. If I place a pole I'd be tempted to run lines, make sure I'd have at least 16 feet of clearance, add yard sale posters and the odd dog chained to it, an elderly person with a walker UNDER the cable guy telling he'll die if he falls off, and maybe the occasional illegal cable connection

2. I'm a bit clumsy and would eventually knock one over

3. I used to climb the things for a living.
You're right though, it would look boss to have them and maybe later I'll add them. As it is I'm short on storage and I can just stack everything in a box. I could mount the poles on a base like it was done on another thread. The usable part of a standard round toothpick would make the pole around 2 feet in diameter and 40 feet tall which will be prefect when I get around to doing residential blocks. There's always the Z scale model railroad resources. Poles, street lights, and traffic lights / signs are on the list.
It's do-able and thanks for the input

Oh . . . and they lied . . . your life doesn't flash before your eyes when you fall off of one . . . its the sky, and the pole, and the ground, and the sky, and the pole, and the ground . . .
