Show Us Your Games

Hi Mark

That is another great looking game there and an interesting situation - an attack on an airfield. Very nice terrain and models as always.

Hi all

Image

We had our annual Moderns Microarmour tournament in Auckland NZ a month or so back at a larger event called Battlecry. We were playing some house rules for the WRG ruleset and I was also playing so I didn't take many photos apart from my games. Also no one was worried about the results so it made for a fun tournament. Most of the armies were mid 80s except for a couple or armies.

I'd also done some work on my terrain boards (which i posted here a while back) and removed the interlocking edges and replaced with aluminum angle edging, and they looked much better and "cleaner"

France 40 microarmor game we played last month at Gigabites café in Marietta, GA.

It represents the defense of the 4e Reg Dragoons around the Berthonval farm outside of Mont St Eloi on May 23, 1940, the day after the big Arras attack.

Hi Mark

That is another really excellent looking game you have there. I like the fact that your games cover a wide variety of Theaters, time periods, equipment, and situations.
Although I am primarily interested in Russian Front and North Africa for WWII, you cover the whole spectrum from early war to very late war and create really great terrain boards and I really look forward to all of your AARs. Keep up the great work.

Terrain

Post by ACWBill »

Mark, lovely stuff as always. It is a joy to observe all the different methods folks on this site use to create beautiful terrain and excellent games. Mark uses a unique method and it turns out some gorgeous looking games.

I remember in the 1980s playing on the living room floor of my apartment in Madison, AL. I also remember in the 70s playing with our first generation GHQ on a chicken wire and Plaster of Paris board painted dark, muddy brown. We also experimented with my Dad's old Army blankets with masking tape and paper buildings and books stacked underneath for hills.

My, have we come a long way.

Nicely done.

Yes. I agree. It is fun to see all the different techniques. I had to develope one that was easily transportable and versatile. Didn't want hexes or boards or anything permament. Turns out it does take some room to house all the various trees and buildings. Styrofoam sheets are pretty easy to store since they are relatively thin and flat. Doing an early Russian front game this Saturday folllowed by a couple of SW Pacific 20mm games during the week. I do like the change of scenery.

Location?

Mark, if you don't mind my asking, in which part of Atlanta do you reside? I am in So. Florida now, but eventually hope to relocate north of Atlanta. I have family in north AL and grandchildren in Suwanee. I also miss having four seasons. It would be nice to know if there is a significant gaming community in the ATL area.

I'm on the NW side in Cobb County. Gamers scattered all around ATL. Southside has a pretty big group around Fayetteville.

So. Florida Miniatures Gamers (SMG) Annual ACW Weekend.

Post by ACWBill »

South Florida Miniatures Gamers will run our annual ACW Weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday. Up this year is the Battle of Chickamauga. I have chosen the second day scenario from the classic Fire & Fury Great Western Battles Scenario Book. I built the board a little larger, just because I wanted to include Lee & Gordon's Mill. I went 6 X 12 feet in order to do so. I use my 10mm figures with the standard 15mm basing and battlefield dimensions. We will have approximately 12 players. I will provide an AAR, but for now, here are some teaser shots of the calm before the storm. I also plan to run the game at Historicon. I still have to place the earthworks in front of the Yanks positions, but most of the board is set to go.

Enjoy the pics. I will take more as the battle develops.

Excellent work, looks like it will be a great game! You're inspiring me to finish my ACW figures and get them on the field.

Game Pics

Post by ACWBill »

Hi Paul, the game is Saturday and is listed in the PEL as "This Terrible Sound". I took over 100 pics this weekend and will be posting an AAR when I get a chance to edit and place in the proper order. If you like, send a PM and I will email you a few shots.
