Hello guys long time i havent been here with you all, well I had a little project this past few days messing with some irregular rebels, I cut there heads and placed them on some israeli heavy weapon soldiers, i just felt i needed some irregular combatants with more sophisticated weapons like the Syrian Rebels. I liked the outcome..let me see if i can upload some pics.
Here are a few models I have been working on.
General Joe Johnston. modified McClellan model.
General D.H. Hill. modified Barksdale model.
General Phil Kearny. modified mounted officer with kepi.
The reason why McClellan couldn't capture Richmond. He had to go over two "Hills" and down a "Longstreet." Generals Longstreet, D.H. Hill, and A.P. Hill in his red shirt.
"Moral courage is the most valuable and usually the most absent characteristic in men." Gen. George S. Patton Jr.
I am new to the forum and any forum for that matter. Also starting to find new interest in GHQ products. I recently joined a group of war gamers and decided to start painting my own vehicles. Here is some of my work. Let me know what you think.
Just click on the "Img" button when you are drafting your post/reply and then paste the link to your image behind the text that appears and then click "Img" again to close the tag.
Your vehicles look pretty good! It's quite an accomplishment to paint the rubber road wheels on a 1/285th miniature. One suggestion I have is to apply a "wash" over your paint job to help bring out the details and shadows.
Thanks for your feedback WWIICentral. I have admired your work for some time and learn a lot from trying to duplicate some of what I see in your pieces.
The wheels are difficult and they don't always come out the way I want them. Some touch up paint is always necessary. I sometimes question my sanity in pursuing that level of detail.
I will definetly try out a wash on all my pieces. I have been hesitant but have gotten a pointer or two from a friend that does larger stuff. Will post the results once I get some guts to do it.
here is another pic.
