Waiting Vietnam projects, I'll post pictures soon of my other projects "work in progress" in the "show us your scratchbuilding" waiting to return to Vietnam thread soon too.

WIP - Aircav

Post by Paul B »

This is a WIP. This is going to be a captain for one of my Aircav companies. It is also a test figure for the basic color scheme. I modified a grenadier figure to get him pointing in the distance.

What do you think? It just has the flesh, uniform , vest, and helmet done. Still have to do another dark wash, paint in details.

Paul, that figure looks great! What do you use for a dark wash?

Paul,

Well done! The detail on that figure is amazing! Can't wait to see the rest of them!

This is what I use. One bottle goes a long way.

60 gunners done

Post by Paul B »

I finished some sixty gunners.

The prone assistant gunners below are from reposed riflemen.

The grenadier above was inspired by the following picture. I took an existing grenadier figure and bent him at the knees.

Another grenadier repurposed to carry ammo boxes.

You can really do a lot by reposing the grenadiers.

Those look so good. I hate painting my infantry because I am no good at it. Definitely jealous!!! Please post more when you get them done.

Thanks guys.

Mikey,

Here are some close ups of the stand with the repurposed riflemen.

Image

The prone trooper in the foreground is Thumper removed from his base, and bent at the waist so when laying on the ground the knees and elbows are touching the ground. Think high crawl.
Image

The same was done with the trooper in the foreground in this shot.

I just wish GHQ would make all of their M113s, and all the variants thereof, with separate sideskirts, so they can be displayed without them, as they were in Vietnam.
