I have a bit of birthday cash to spend and have decided to upgrade my 6mm trees. I'm in the midst of doing the same for my 15mm armies.
The GHQ trees leave me cold. I've got couple dozen from the packs I ordered in 15mm that will do double duty, but I'm looking for sources for good trees suitable for use in 1/285.
Woodland scenics and GHQ don't really float my boat.
Sources for really nice looking trees?

I did an experiment by flocking some left over plywood bases, then drilling holes to make 6mm forest bases. The trees are not fixed so can be moved around to accommodate troop stands or micro armor: You can even see some empty holes where you could move a tree out of the way at center, bottom.

The best trees I've ever seen for gaming or model railroading were made from roots. There's a video lurking somewhere on YouTube where they dig up tree roots (the small ones!), dry them then use them to make tree trunks and various shrubs. I haven't tried this but it doesn't look any harder than the other options.
I found the video in doing a web search for wargaming terrain to get access to the GHQ Terrain Maker video (also present on YouTube).

I'm currently shopping for trees. I just ordered a couple different packs from Scenic Express and they should be here in a couple days.
The trees in the pictures above are off Ebay. I bought a bag of 100 for about $8. They are all identical, and viewed side-on you can see there are three disks of branches with spaces in between, like this:

En masse and from a gaming angle though, they look okay.

Since this is a forum for general audiences, including minors, there has to be some process for limiting offensive terms. The censoring program used by this forum is a non-intelligent filter. It looks for pre-set letter sequences that (might) have s*xual or scatological connotations and cuts any word containing them. Unfortunately, it also catches up many innocent terms. Thus, we have to be careful with terms such as Guadalcan*l, HMS Ess*x, etc. I have never figured out why the name of a 1930's French aircraft manufacturer will never appear without replacing vowels with *s.
It's not worth getting angry; just learn to live with it and use alternate symbols to avoid annoying cuts.
