Some of us game 1:1 with Brigade or higher levels. It is not uncommon for us to attack with 95 or more T-80's against an American force. That player would have at least 58 M1's. Most of us are building divisions at 1:1 for US, Russian and another country.
We have used Command Decision and made some changes like dropping movement and firing into cm versus inches. Right now, we are working on some custom rules. Typically a battle will be 3-4 tables in length. We played one that was 19 feet long by 6 feet deep.
We have had some large games, even on table 32 ft by 8 ft. Periodically 24 X 6(or 7) ft.
Of the above model GHQ tanks, I have a division in reserve of those, they are a previous cast of the M1 (I think) with a thinker barrel, thus I call that the M1A1, first batch, the current M1A1 by GHQ is identify as M1A1 HA (heavy armor). Of the division of those tanks, I have 300 unpainted in the depot being reworked, and about 100 painted in olive drab. Not sure if this division will have 'enough' infantry, arty, air-defence support. this division the 5th US Armored Division, will have those other elements, just not a Brigade of Mech Infantry, unless M113, some M109A2, M108, M125, Lance missles, m163 Vulcan & Chapprells. But it is the extra US division. I am lacking trucks, but can provide Gamma Goats, if I quit making them into aircraft tow vehicles.
If anybody wished to come down for a large game, even on a Gym floor, bring knee pads, or for a table top, let us know. You can bring your stuff or borrow some of ours. We have plenty. If you and a few guys want a box battle, let us know that too. We would really like to do that. Bring a few guys with their boxes, too,
If you wish to borrow a German, Brit or French division, let me know. Or a brigade, Mick will let you borrow his German heavy, heavy Brit Battalion, 2 light French battalions. Paul might not mind to loan a US division.
If you want Chinese, it will be a mix of 2/3 older equipment and 1/3 newer stuff. Or anywhere else. Mick in Canada is working on a Swedish Brigade force.
I can loan a US division, 2 brigades of Germans or a Russian division. Against Chris that is just a warm-up but I would make him pay for his aggression.
My largest force is 1970s-1980s BAOR, and I can field just about the whole thing for any part of that period in platoon-scale. (Though I'm short some infantry and recon vehicles). And that is just one army... I haven't done a full inventory in a long time (but have done some partial ones) and I believe I have, painted, at least 11,000 vehicles, 2/3rds modern.
Redleg,
A box battle: 'everything in my box(es) vs. everything in your box*es), everything I own vs. everything you own. Or could be a group vs. group. Warhammer 40K has the a name Apocalypse, where it is unlimited points (frequently), any equipment or force on one side vs. another.....
So Redleg, bring all your stuff in modern micro armor for a game against Paul and his modern micro armor. Years ago, a guy moved to Jacksonville, and he had Russian arty and missile launchers, hundreds and hundreds, have perhaps a 100 tanks and 100 APCs. Why? They had several gamers, he was Russian and if you owned it you could use it in a campaign game. He did not have US, Brit, German, etc. to play against so he always had to find a gamer with opposing forces. I do think it is helpful if you have stuff for opposing side in the event you meet a gamer who is not into modern micro armor, YET! Or a person new to gaming, or a guest.
Chris, one of the days we need to get a gym and invite everyone down for a weekend or a week of gaming. We could choose a large battle area like FULDA gap and just go at it.
