Hi Cama

Thanks. No no dull coat. I would not know where to get it over here and they are not so shiny under normal lighting. I think it was a combination of the window behind me with the afternoon sun & the highly reflective plastic storage box that they were sitting on.

The last pic has the Tigers in the back ground. That is closer to what they look like.

Also if you look at my other posts I tend to coat the ground based vehicles very heavily with dust. After a week in the field every thing is coated with it. However the choppers that I have seen are normally very clean.
Cheers

CDP,
Nice looking helos, I like the Aussies.
As to seal the miniatures, go to a home improvement store (in the US- Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace, Hardware) and get a Flat sealer. It would be next to the cans of spray paint. Can get glass finish or Flat sealer......
I will send the Canberra over to pick up your wing and go find the enemy, perhaps the Chinese, India, Japan, etc.
Nice job.

Tamiya make a very good spray flat clear that is readily available at Aussie model stores.
Spray is TS-80.
They also make a polycarbonate version (PS-55) and a paintable (brush) version (XF-86).

DO NOT use the flat base (XF-21) because it is an additive to paints to make them more matt.
There is no right or wrong, only decisions and consequences.

Even more Aussies...

Post by CDP »

Here is the last of my Aussies that I have figures for.

A Brigade Command Stand with Land Rover 110 & Mog with a scratch built Comms Shelter on the back.

Image

Also a bunch of Land Rover 90's as GHQ do not yet make 110's with soft tops. As I game in platoon scale & Australia only bought 11 of the 110's in hardtop then this represents all of the in the country.

More Mogs. 1with a 50 cal on ring mount from spare M20 kit.

And the remaining vehicles for civilian or UN use.

Cama,
Cama, give a overview of what happened in a few of the events. If possible let us know the equipment involved. And the other antagonist.

I spent a little time in BH during '98-'01. What a beautiful country unfortunately ravaged by ethnic violence.

Nice work cama.

I like the extra 'baggage' hanging off the sides. Not sure if baggage on the back of a Panther next to the exhausts would have been a good storage place, but at least it would have been warm

WWII USN work

An LPD-21 and LCS-2 in basic scheme. Also a liberty ship in MS22, CVE-28 in non-prototypical camo and finally the 2nd photo shows CVE-9 Bogue in early 1943 MS-22 (with F4F Wildcats in early 1942 scheme). These were previously shown in a different post (sorry for the redundancy). All were started and finished over labor day weekend.

All models are GHQ. 1:285/6mm in scale. Airbrushed using Vallejo Model Air, details added with Vallejo Acrylics. Antennae are toothbrush bristles. Decals by Mehusla. Dullcoat to finish.

The formula:

3 parts Vallejo Airbrush Thinner
9 parts Vallejo Model Air paint - no, it's not thin enough to go through the airbrush.

I use an Iwata HP-B+, with 0.2mm needle.
Compressor is set to 30psi.

I also found an interesting additive in airbrush lubricant. A coating on the needle helps move the paint past.

All of the above and I can do hair fine lines now.
Sweet. I just picked up a Badger Patriot 105 for the same reasons...better detailing. My previous dual action cratered a few years ago and finally got a new one :D
May have to try out your recipe...now...airbrush lubricant?

Good luck and post your results!
Thanks, going to have to look for that.
Been a few years since I've used a dual action, just looking at different videos on the best way to use it to get the best quality. Last one I had was a Paasche VL, good, but couldn't get super fine detail with it.

cama,
Nice looking group of Germans you have there. The stowage is definitely a nice touch...make each vehicle unique. Did you add the tank commander or was that added by the end user? Looks good! Im very impressed you painted the camo with an airbrush! Well done! Look forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the tip Cama, I have (3) tubes of Iwata lubricant on order. I also thin my Vallejo paints to the same ratio as you do, but attempt to spray at 22 - 24 PSI. I use an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS with a .35mm needle. I also have an Iwata Plus B with .2mm on order
