PzBef III K - Which Turret?

Post by Extra Crispy »

So I'm looking at my 11th Panzer Division project and there are a number of PzBef III K Command tanks. I know they used the J chassis, so easy enough to order those. But I'm unsure what turrets to order?

It seems they used the turret from the Panzer IV Ausf G correct?

PzBef Wg Ausf K used the hull and superstructure of the PzIII Ausf. M with extra vision ports added to the superstructure sides. Turret is an M type PzIII turret with the mantlet cut down on the right hand side and a vision port added (coax MG replaced with a port similar to the driver's vision port).

Thanks!

I read somewhere it was a PzIII/IV hybrid but looking at pictures it just looked like a Pz III turret.

Anyone make one or will I have to resort to making my own with a knife and green stuff (I'm kinda attached to all my fingers)?

I wouldn't use a knife, or putty...

I'd only do the turret. The port is on a flat face, so I'd file that part of the mantlet flat to the start of the turret roof, polish it smooth, add a tiny bit of styrene as the port and be done with it.
