More stuff for 2016-17

Post by panzergator »

the M103 Heavy tank, or the M103A2 with the M60's engine compartment.

the MBT70 and KpfPzr70, though they never saw service.

The M8 AGS, which is also a long shot since it never saw service, but if it is submitted in the MPF competition, it may end up doing the job it was designed for decades before.

Plus the armored reconnaissance vehicle from the '70s, tracked, that wasn't adopted but we definitely need. Change the 20mm for the Rarden30, though. 20mm is useless. I KNOW THIS one is a stretch. But the Bradley is too big for recon and this would have been adopted but for the administration insisting that the Bradley do BOTH jobs, and so it doesn't do either one well.

The ARES 76mm autocannon light tank would be nice, too.

The new CV series with 120mm gun.

I'm good for a US battalion strength of each of these. The M103 Army Bn is 72 tanks organized in 4 companies, each of 6 platoons, 3 tanks each. The Marine Bn is 3 companies, 3 platoons of 5 tanks each and 2 at BnHQ (54 total). Since the MBT70 was never issued, I will go with the J-series 4 companies, three platoons each of 4, two at each company HQ and 2 at BN Hq, 58 total. Probably two Bns of those. I'd buy 55 AGSs and 60 ArReVE-Ts, plus a company of M1A2s to provide a reinforcing tank company..

For the MBT-70 and AGS battalions, I will need an equal mech battalions to operate with them. So, GHQ, if you're paying attention, I would buy a lot of stuff from this list. I would buy a company of Conquerors to help out my British armoured infantry battalion, currently reinforced by two squadrons of Challengers. What's more, I will have to beef up my Russian division to provide viable opposition!

And I'm thinking about M59s and M75s to work with those M103s...

If possible, I would love to see the Russian MI-28 Attack Helicopter, as well as the Italian Mangusta Helicopter.

Also the Swiss Stridsvagn 103 turretless tank.

Ultra-Modern Russian and Chinese air support:

-Su-24M (in current combat ops used by Russia, Syria, and Iran)
-Su-34 (current combat ops in Syria, Russian Air Force only)
-J-10B (upgraded Chinese multi-role fighter)
-JH-7A (upgraded Chinese strike aircraft)
-Z-10 (Kamov-designed Chinese attack helicopter)
-Z-18 (new Chinese medium helicopter, similar to CH-53...need this for Marine airlifts)

Keep an eye on J-31 progress, recent articles are claiming a 2019 introduction.....which might mean China has combat-capable knockoff F-35s before we finish working all the kinks out of the "real" ones....for which GHQ already makes 2 variants.

Ultra-Modern Chinese vehicles:
-Type 96A (China's most common "modern" MBT, 2,500 in service)

GHQ makes the Type 98 and 99, both of which fulfill the "high quality" role in the high/low readiness mix for armored forces. But we still need the Type 96 which fills the bulk of China's lower-readiness forces.

-PLZ-05 (152mm) and Type-07 (122mm) SPGs
-ZBD-04A (BMP-3 turret on Chinese chassis, IFV support for Type 99 MBT)
-ZBL-09 (new 8-wheeled APC/IFV)

Overall I think GHQ's Ultra-Modern efforts have been pretty good lately (we got the CV90's and US infantry we were begging for). I realize that a) air support probably isn't a big seller and b) it's VERY hard to keep on top of China's modernization efforts....they probably introduce new hardware with a tighter OODA loop than GHQ does  .

I'd like to see a few more of the Israeli and South African lines to finish off the great work done over the past few years. The new Israeli M3 & M3/90mm are some of my favourites.

Israel
- M3 half-track TCM-20 SPAA (maxsom turret with 2 x 20mm)
- L-33 and M50 SP 155mm
- Sherman SP 160mm mortar
- M38 Jeep (distinctly different from WWII version & used also by Jordan - lots of mg's & RCL...)

South Africa
- Ratel Swift SP ATGM
- Rooikat armoured car

Oh, and I second the call for the Conquerer and M103 super- heavies!! I need them & all the above for my take on Ty Beard's Dixie-2000 alternate history for FFT.

What else? Perhaps a re-do on the Cold War US SPAA since the M163 is quite dated & we don't have a good example of the Chapparel SP-SAM.....?

A Black Prince would, look cool. You could use a Comet turret on the Churchiil hull as a fudge in the meantime.

Lastly, I make my plea again for a 'machine gun' pack to add to miniatures which don't have any. Eg the BTR-152, the Merkava IV & all the others which would look great with more mg's hanging off. Maybe not 'gamer-proof', but would look really cool.

Oh, I forgot the 1982 Israeli versions of the centurion & M60 with ERA. I was shattered when the Magach 6 from last year turned out to be the ultra-modern one.....the ERA version of the Sho't & Magach look very different to the standard versions & should be quite popular IMHO.....

Also, the captured & revamped Tiran versions of the T55/62.....

What else? Perhaps the initial version of the M48 with open MG position and extra fuel dorms on the rear (used by Jordan and Pakistan)??

Thanks for sharing this great list which is almost the same as my own one for China. You have saved me lots of typing

I am also eager to add some command and medical vehicles to the China list:
-WZ-701 Armoured Command & Control Vehicle
-WZ-752 Armoured Medical Evacuation Vehicle
-YW535 (Type 99) Armoured Command & Control Vehicle (please!)
- Type 95 battery command vehicle with CLC-2 search radar deployed
Need a lot of them for my PLA battalions

Japanese Type 90 Field Gun (75mmL38): was introduced in 1932 – not most common but more modern

US WWII and Modern era Caterpillar D-7 tractor

Modern:

Russian 9p149 tracked ATGM vehicle (this is an MT-LB w/9m114(AT-6) or more recently the 9M120(AT-9). The upper deck panels are different than the APC variants and I'd like a casting of the missile tube in launch position if possible.
Russian MT-LBM (any of the modernized 'apc' varirants would be welcome e.g. the 6MA, 6MA1, 6MA2 or 6MA4, - modernized MTLB w/ various BTR80 turrets or 6MB, 6MB3 or 6MB4 - modernized MTLB w/ various MTR80a turrets).
Russian MTLBM (6MB5) AA variant (turret w/ dual ZU-23 or 30mm AC's & dual 9K38 Igla SAM's on top.

Thanks for reading GHQ!
