A big thanks to GHQ for the Christmas sale.
It is very much appreciated. Keep on rocking in the free World.
If I have any spare after the holiday, I will invest in pewter that I can not get locally.
Cheers

Paul, Chris said the bigger 6mm table area would allow you to carry on retreating longer, hence putting off total defeat by up to ten minutes.paul wrote:StVF101,
I hear a number of gamers saying they will be using micro armor instead of 15mm. In addition to the cost, you also can play with bigger battles with micro armor.

60+ ghq items heading to Florida to help stem the Red tide.
Merry Christmas.

Apparently it's become a thing with me these past few days to do cost comparison between the 15mm prices and 1/285 scale GHQ prices. Thought I would share this:
If you were to order one of every Soviet item in the cart, just one of each (excluding the infantry boxes and the starter army set) it would total up to $314 USD before shipping, prices from the Team Yankee online store website.
To do the equivalent on the GHQ store it would total up to: $119.50 USD before shipping, non-sale price ($101.57 with the sale). One thing to note is the GHQ blisters come with an additional 1x BM-21, 3x ZSU 23-4s, 3x SA-13s. Only major discrepancy is the 15mm BMP box allows for either BMP-1 or BMP-2 construction. But for the price difference it's too easy to compensate.

We have had quite a few people contact us about our miniatures, and using them with Team Yankee. It seems like almost all of the people are coming from using the 15mm with FoW because they aren't familiar with our scale. One thing that pretty much all of them can't believe is the price difference. Additionally we point out that the "parking lot effect" of FoW that a many people don't like in WWII will be brought up exponentially with the Moderns. A lot of Modern equipment can engage at up to 2000 yards. In most wargaming you need to make compromises for ground scale, but what do you do with 2000 yards with 15mm miniatures? That's a lot of compromise.
We already have a lot of people who use GHQ miniatures with FoW, and that is fine with us. We know that a lot of people just like to get together, throw some dice, move some armour around, have some fun. We have also heard from a lot of people who still use the 15mm miniatures with FoW, and tell us that they wish that they would have started out with GHQ miniatures because of cost, the overall look of the game, and the quality of our miniatures. What do you guys think? Do you use GHQ miniatures with FoW? Are you planning to use GHQ minis with Team Yankee? Don't worry, if you use, or plan to use, those rules we are fine with that...just make sure that you use GHQ miniatures.
Thank you for your support,

You put more terrain on the table. IIRC the average engagement range is 500M.GHQ wrote:A lot of Modern equipment can engage at up to 2000 yards. In most wargaming you need to make compromises for ground scale, but what do you do with 2000 yards with 15mm miniatures?
I don't recall what the ranges were in Team Yankee

I'm interested in Team Yankee and the only way to play it will be Micro Armor. As you stated you need the terrain and room that 1/285th offers. From places like TMP, it sounds like a number of people will use Micro Armor for Team Yankee. BF sells a starter package of 9 tanks and 2 helicopters for close to $90. One can get a good size starter army for that in micro armor.

I'm going to try and get hold of a copy of the BF Team Yankee rules, if only out idle curiousity.
I played the boardgame 'Team Yankee' about 20 years ago which used a version of the First Battle rules, a really excellent and simple set of rules that also played fast.
From the book there was a scenario where Team Yankee defended against 2 Battalions of T-72s attacking. The boardgame played it that one Battalion was committed and if/when they broke the next would be committed.
Playing this on the tabletop with GHQ figures was great as I had enough T-72s to do a full Battalion back then.
Now I can do both Battalions on table
If I get the new rules and replay this I'll post picces...
