Making some counters for Team Yankee

I was going to do Team Yankee in 6mm and kept waffling back and forth. In the end the stuff is just too boring to paint all in one throw, so temporarily I've decided to go with counters instead. I bought a PDF from StrikeNet games off WargamesVault. After importing I was able to re-size them to fit my Litko plywood counters, make the unit type easier to read, and add color coded unit ID tags to the counters as well.

It took me maybe an hour to do the computer work on the Soviets. Now I have a complete "Red Banner Tank Divsion" printed. It took less time for the Americans since I'd got all the trial and error out of the way. I figure it will take an hour, maybe two to glue the paper to my counters.

On Monday I'll be in a position to play a 750 point game on the big table. If I go half-scale I'll have an effective table size of 12' deep by 20' long.

And if I don't like the game I'll use the counters to try out other rule sets â€“ maybe Fistful of TOWs 3?

Actual size is 40x15mm for the vehicles, 1" x 3/4 for the large infantry, 15x15mm for the small. The counters don't have all the necessary infantry but at this size you really can't tell, and there's not much infantry anyway.

I used Paint and Powerpoint to crop and edit and add my own Unit IDs (the colored icons at the rear) as well as making the unit type easier to read.

And here come the Soviets. Three platoons of T72s (10 tanks each) with supporting artillery, recon, etc. Gluing them down takes a little longer than I thought but it's a nice project to work on while you wait for your cake to bake and your ceviche to marinate. You can even enjoy a nice big Jameson's while you work on it.

With 10 tanks they are companies not platoons.

Finished my Americans. The gluing is taking a little longer than I thought. But now I have the entire Team Yankee force from the rule book - four M1 combat teams and 4 Mech inf combat teams plus supports.

Working on the Soviets now. Building the T72 Division. I have 2 tank regiments done...
