1/285 Russian T15 scratch built -Done

Post by nashorn88 »

I'm always amazed how GHQ is able to model at such a small scale.
So I decided to give it a go myself
It's not to scale since I'm just free handing everything so be kind....lol
I'll post pic as I complete
Yea I know not much to start with. But this is the base that I will add detail as I go along.Once I add details if should be as fat as the GHQ model. I hope GHQ doesn't mind the post.
Please post any comments or ANY tips
After 2 hours of work or maybe more since I lost track of time.
next step is reinforce the base and slowly work on the details

My 1st attempt at making anything at this scale but learning a lot about how to work with the styrene.
But youre close. It's going to be a T15. I saw what Allen and thought maybe I can do it too.
Anyone have diagrams of a T15? I basing it on pic I found online.

Ok this is about an hour of work

Btw: if it looks out of scale or things look crooked it is.

Ah, close. The seven road wheels was something I remember from when the T-14 was first photographed.

Nice work on the T-15

Interesting how they have the ERA tiles over crew compartment but not over the engine area.
I should have made the one under the tarp it would have been so much easier....lol
Did get a chance to work much on it.
After seeing a pic of the top I had to move things around.

I'm trying to figure out how to do it rivets.
Cleaned up the wheels a bit . Unfortunately the styrene melts with too much of the solvent. Going to explore using super glue to hold some pieces together .
If any if you guys have made anything at this scale let me know I could and would appreciate any advice or help.

For rivets how about small beads of glue?

Tries that but at this scale even a pin point is big

I notice that some of the GHQ masters has square rivets but then cut to a circle shape
Zoom in and you will notice square rivets but I'm sure it will be round when complete.

Man you are doing some nice work!! I admired your ships too. I have enjoyed the scratch building side of this hobby but really have kept myself to buildings as they seem easier... Have you thought about resin casting any of your scratch builds? I have had pretty decent success thus far doing that.
