Yes it is a board game but it can be played with micro armor and yes it is 1:1 scale. I didn't know you wear looking for 1:4, I guess we will be far apart in opinion then
Since I like Flames of War I'm going with Team Yankee for my 1:1 rule set. But I'm interested in bigger actions at a grander scale so will have to give MBT a miss....besides which you can't get in anywhere except on Ebay, and I don't want to buy a whole boardgame at collector's prices, just for the rule book!

For me one of the fundamental issues I have with Sabre Squadron is that identified above by Kieran - you autokill far too often for an enjoyable game. Too often after all the die rolls and steps to work out a combat you find that there is no way for the target to survive. There just seems to be something askew with the balance between guns and armour.
