How many unpainted packs in your backlog?

Post by Extra Crispy »

Just got my latest order from GHQ in. 13 packs, mostly trucks and artillery crew. I now have a grand total of 19 unpainted packs in the hopper, although 2 of those I'm looking to trade.

I also have approximately 30 unpainted vehicles loose. So call it a total unpainted backlog of 16 packs. Probably enough to keep me busy until the end of April.

So, how big is your backlog?

Hahahaha I have megalomania- too many purchases and not enough time. I'm up to 33 packs unopened, 20 individually used tanks in need of stripping and re-paint, and another 30 individual tanks on the table in various stages. Plus three gliders and a ju52 in mid stream. I have a ton of infantry but I just hate painting them so they sit and sit...

Unopened packs, now at 65 GHQ and 12 CinC.
At least a dozen more opened and either untouched or primed.
I haven't bought any, or worked on my collection since the last price hike.
Have yet to decide if I will, so I keep busy with my model trains instead.
Btw, I started collecting GHQ when I was 16 years old; I'll be 62 in August...

I have no unopened packs but not for want of trying. Sadly last years and this years budgets got blown in January for needed surgery. I'm just working on my want lists so next year I can get more toys.

How Many Unpainted Packs in Your Backlog

Post by pmskaar »

I have more unpainted packs, opened and unopened than I can probably paint in my lifetime. I have WWII and Modern vehicles, infantry, and aircraft. I also collect WWI and WWII ships and have some of the 10mm Civil War and Napoleonic figures.

I also have a lot of vehicles, infantry, and some ships and buildings mounted on nails in various stages of completion.

I have no plans at present to sell off anything to make my piles more manageable but will just pick away at what I have on my project list.
I have been collecting this stuff for about 35 years when I started buying it while at Ft. Knox for my Armor Officer Advanced Course in 1980-81.

Extra Crispy,

Why in the world would you ask a question that requires such an overwhelming and depressing answer?

Not only am I behind, but I need to repaint most of what is already painted. BUT!... I want 'em as good as I can get 'em, so I have no choice.

And I don't know when I will have time...

Must be over 100 unpainted, so 20+ packs worth pending.
Another 100+ in just a base coat needing attention.
I'll get there one day.

Mick, You have too much stuff, I did not intend to do a disservice to you putting too much pressure on you to paint. That and your terrain, I am sorry. Next time I will not send.

I recently moved and have four medium priority mail boxes full of unopened packs under my workbench and found four combat commands NIB and counted 31 unopened packs with two more boxes to go, so lots, maybe 90 or 100.

Thanks cav dog, makes me feel better. I told you Chris I do not have a problem.

Chris, really thanks for all the help last year, that made a major re vamp of my Forces possible. Without the exchanges my unpainted (and un required)pile would be much larger.

I have started to brake down the long lines of pewter into units, each in it's own box.
Much less daunting a project that way. So my Goatland box (18 group) only has 1 Leo 2A6 coy, 1 CV90 coy, 1 home guard coy and a bit of HQ at the moment.
Even over the Summer when I paint very little, I plan to dedicate each Month to a unit/box.

Mick, glad to help
Look forward to seeing the end result of your Balzac force, and the CFL group of assorted stuff.....
My Aussies are ready, need to add more M1A1 to the group. As of now, just over a company painted up, need to add at least 2 more companies of Abrams. Also need to paint 20 LAVs (not ASLAV) for them (NZ or someone with same camo), but I do not like painting wheels. Then I would have at least 2 full companies of LAv 25, some mortars, command, log, etc and then the ASLAVs.
.
Need to work on some Russian/Ukraine vehicles, NATO, Naval force, the usual.....
Have the Dutch re-deployed any Leopard 2 of any sort? They had de-activated/sold them. Wondering with all the recent developments over the last 1/1.5 years if that has changed.
.
Glad to have helped. Now I keep track in some cases of the Aussie military in the news.
Happy Easter.

"Have the Dutch re-deployed any Leopard 2 of any sort? "

Chris, not sure they have any left!
I think they modded 188 2A5 to A6 in early 2000's.
100 to Finland but that is over 2015 -2019 so may be a few in the cupboard still!.

At least 20 dutch A6 went back to Germany as A7 part of Canadian-BW deal.

Happy Easter.
