I haven't done anything new in, oh, three years or so. That's when my hands started shaking so bad that I couldn't do any fine work (such as is required for GHQ models). My doctor diagnosed the problem as "essential tremors", but I had to go though a lot of testing. My least favorite was when they hooked up electrodes to an elbow and a fingertip, and sent four levels of electricity through my arm -- the fourth one was a "female dog", if ya know what I mean..., each time they did it. Each arm, each finger, four times each. Did it to me knees and toes as well. They did find out I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my right arm, and varying degrees of nerve damage from Type 2 diabetes. Sucks getting older.
Good news, though -- my docs have found a "good combination" of meds, and on good days, my hands are actually steady enough to get some work done. So maybe before too long, I'll have a few pics of my own to post!
Anyway, "youze guys" keep up the good work and keep posting pictures!
Regards,
Tom Stockton
Hi Tom! Sounds like you have been having fun. (not really) Glad to hear that they found a combination that works for you! Now time to get back to modeling! Hehe kidding not really.
Glad I checked in here myself. Glad to see people are still doing great work. I need to get going again myself.
This site is great for motivation. I have a new airbrush and paints to try out.
Some cool stuff here....really liked Cavdog's ISIS guys...I have some done too and will post in a bit.
Here is stuff I finished last night:
Afrika Korps command group (GHQ). Try to ignore the glue and flock on the wheels. These minis are second hand and I repainted them after prying them off their bases. They will end up rebased in an appropriate desert setting!
Pacific Island base (GHQ minis)
An Afrika Korps Bison (Shapeways Masters of Military). I need to add decals and paint those jerry cans!
....and an oasis I put together last week using tufts, metal palm trees and Vallejo texture gels.
Yes, very nice work. Also, looking at the Bison and comparing it with the other vehicles, we can see that Shapeways still has some distance to go before they are the equal of GHQ.
Could to see a post again. Glad to hear the doctors have found the right combination of meds to help. It does suck getting older. My eyes are just not as good as they used to be.
